I have been working at 7 Layers part-time

    Pros

Very easy to impress interviewers for a job with very lazy lazy pay. Being upstairs is way better than being downstairs for TSO staff. Everyone waiting for 5pm and the next opportunity outside of this company. job is a stepping stone as everyone waits for the end of the day while browsing their mobile.

    Cons

Constant turnover in TSO depart. I've learned more (career-wise) in my high school than at this company. The HR lady upstairs in the far far corner office room does not know my name correctly even after two years. the engineering managers upstairs complain but do not do anything about their issues. Don't waste your time with this company unless you need a slightly better pay than a job in retail. Just a dollar (or a half) maximum better than retail but without all the people/kids/customer stress. Some of the senior full-time employees do not care about the part-time TSO staff. I think I am wasting my time here.

    Advice to Management

Stop being cheap and see what your colleagues are all about Fernando. How's this company still around?

"Toxic management with no leadership activity, commitments are regularly broken, and sub-par pay."

I worked at 7 Layers full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Colleagues that work hard (pull their own weight) can become friends for life. Because you are working together and experiencing the challenges together, you will likely build several bonds.

    Cons

There are many reasons to avoid this company like the plague; management is either inexperienced/uneducated, having never worked professionally for another organization, or they manage so much work and so many employees that they cant possible lead anything.

There is no transparency within the company at all, wages are well below the industry average for almost all positions in the organization, management commits and reneges on one thing after another. You likely wont receive a raise, bonus, or even a performance review. If you're looking for part-time lab work, find another organization; your hours will be cut on a whim, your schedule will change weekly, and you'll be treated like children. Monthly financials are "fixed", and "adjusted" each month in order to "meet the numbers" required by headquarters, and monies are often shifted from month-to-month in order to keep the company in the black, rather than red. Frankly, it felt shady each and every month and depending on your role, you're likely to have top management standing in your office telling you how to change the numbers.

Trust is lacking throughout the organization and the open-door policy you'll be told about will often find you standing in front of a closed office door or a continuously cancelled meeting, that isn't cancelled until after it's supposed to begin.

Bottom line: the management of this organization continues to change the organization in attempt to "fix" the ongoing, deep-rooted issues. But until top management begins looking inward, making changes at the highest levels, the organization will continue to tank.

    Advice to Management

Until top management and executive roles are filled with people who are interested in LEADING, rather than controlling, the organization will remain in decline, attrition will remain high, and morale will remain very low.

It isn't enough to listen to employees (and you should really be doing this); it would carry the organization far and wide to involve employees (all of them) in the decisions leading to the future of the organization. This way, all employees are personally invested in the future. This is possible, despite being owned by a large multi-national company. It will require strength, boldness, and leadership in the C-suite.

    Pros

They like to keep employees st 20 hours or less. This creates a environment which is negative and does not promote helpful working environment

    Cons

Use as a stepping stone then move onto full time with competetors

    Advice to Management

When you state fairness then do as you state, When you allow dirty soil to mix withbthr good soil, trees will never take root.

    Pros

You will be exposed to new technologies in the cellular/ wireless world. Great for those interested in entering the tech world such as students or those with no experience. Set working hours for part timers. OT is kept at a minimum.

    Cons

Being a small company, the salary is among the lowest in the valley. Not willing to hire local talent, but rely on lower salaried out-of-state talent. The Sunnyvale location is the poor relative of the Irvine main office.

    Advice to Management

Realize the cost of living in Silicon Valley and budget salaries commensurate with the area. Yearly performance reviews are lacking and lacks proper salary compensation. Pay closer attention to the needs of the Sunnyvale location as the 'action' is in Silicon Valley. Also, lacking a dedicated sales department for this site.

Working style is independent and no micromanagement. Working hours are fair.
Management is approachable and understanding. Gives young professionals opportunities to grow in the organizations. Great benefits.

    Cons

No cons. Salary is less competitive than others but a great place to start for young working professionals.
