    I worked at ALSTOM full-time

    Pros

Great benefits and work-life balance. There were also many opportunities for growth.

    Cons

Not too many downsides. Possibly more competitive pay, since other employers would pay higher for the same title.

    Advice to Management

Reassess salaries to keep it competitive. That will keep current employees happy since current benefits are pretty good.

    Pros

Delegated freedom to operate in the space of work you are excellent in, with periodic supervision. Very liberal organization with less bureaucratic control.

    Cons

HR processes and career growth path often not clear.

    Pros

Develop your skills with new themes and projects, work is not cyclical or monotone. You can share your experience with people from other cultures and there are opportunities to emigrate to a new project.

    Cons

Lack of human resources to have more balanced work between people. There is a lack of communication between the central and projects in each city. It is necessary an induction to the company since the new personnel do not know the process or people who should be addressed

    Advice to Management

There must be a real assessment of company personnel and motivate people to achieve goals through different methods.

I worked at ALSTOM full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Smart people who are great to work with. The benefits are very good. There is good work-life balance for most positions and flexible hours.

    Cons

Some positions (team leads) are over-worked. Also, heavy-weight processes are pushed down from upper-management.

    Advice to Management

Hire more people to fill needed roles (such as program managers), and empower teams to make their own decisions.

I have been working at ALSTOM full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Alstom is a great stable company to work for with a very flexible work environment. The train transportation projects we get to work on are scattered throughout the world and are interesting. The engineers that I work with are for the most part happy and relaxed. It is not a stressful environment.

    Cons

If you don't like the French, trains or engineering train related systems this isn't the company for you.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work

    I worked at ALSTOM full-time

    Pros

The work environment is friendly and supportive. People seem to have a positive attitude about the company and management seems to care about looking after their employees. As an intern, there was plenty of interesting work to be done.

    Cons

The company is very large and seemingly disjointed. There appears to be a distinct disconnect and lack of support from the European headquarters and to its US operations. The gas turbines business does not seem to be very strong.

    Advice to Management

I think that management is doing a great job of making sure the employees have what they need. Innovative projects seem to be well supported. The commissioning team seems to be well supported. I hope that this remains the same in the even of a GE takeover of the heavy duty gas turbines business.
