I worked at ALSTOM full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Health benefits and good free coffee

    Cons

    In Melbourne FL
When GE sold the part I worked in, I ended up with a manager who was irresponsible, rude, lied(even with contradictory email proof). He constantly lied about your work and gave raises to his buddies. This is such a total ethics violation, I don't know why it still continues.

    Advice to Management

    Run away.

I worked at ALSTOM full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good company with decent amount of workload. If you are startimg your career here its a good place to learn more things.

    Cons

Politics, this company has immense politics. Testing team in Rochester is one example, these kind of people do not value education or experience, if the team is ready to butter them up they will be in the team. Ever after more than 3 years with this company, they weren't willing to give me a fresher position or even willing to call me for an interview. If you looking for a place where your need good leaders, this is a worst place to go.

    Advice to Management

Lookout for talent and do not entertain this kind of leaders. Treat everyone equally irrespective of their race.

    Pros

    - Alstom provided a good work/life balance by offering an alternative workweek (9/80) schedule to the exempt employee population.
    - The healthcare benefits and 401k match were more than competitive in today's market.

    Cons

    - Global company with a narrowed regional focus.
    - Many positions were filled without posting to allow for competition among interested internal candidates.
    - Many senior level positions were filled with expats from France rather than promotion from within the North American employee base.
