I have been working at ASHP as a contractor

    Pros

Great job if you want to do nothing and contribute in no way and just get paid. You get lunches once a week from the company and can work remotely or telework for the most part. They also don't really care if you need to take off because most likely you're just an extra person doing working hard for no reason anyways.

    Cons

Bad if you are ambitious and work fast or team driven. The HR department is very incompetent and upper management business run by doctors who know close to nothing about business. Very outdated views in company management and most appointed employees are just too "can't" driven. No growth not great benefits and bonuses and raises are miniscule, such that you almost feel insulted.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of old mentality persona! They are in the status quo unwilling to grow on work things out their policies are outdated and they fear change which is growth! Hire more younger entrepreneurs that can take the company to the next level because if it's not growing it's dying!

I have been working at ASHP full-time

    Pros

This is an extremely team oriented group of professionals dedicated to advancing pharmacy practice. In addition to having the satisfaction knowing that the work done here directly impacts patients in hospital and health systems, the staff here all act like one big family. The atmosphere is warm and friendly and management actively promotes staff activities and interactions outside of work.

    Cons

There can be times when deadlines loom especially around meeting times when the office becomes less relaxed and is much more stressful than normal.

    Advice to Management

Keep listening to staff suggestions and feedback and continue responding to the suggestions wherever possible. Small things do go a long way towards showing that you care about the employees.

    Pros

Located near Washington, D.C. I can get to work easily using the metro system.

    Cons

They hire the dumbest people. Employees have rigid mind set and don't know how to think outside the box.

    Advice to Management

    Hire smarter people.

I have been working at ASHP full-time

    Pros

While there is some turnover, a lot of people stay for many years. The organization is mission-driven, focused on helping pharmacists take care of patients and advocating on public health issues.

    Cons

Traffic to downtown Bethesda can be tricky! Also, there is a lot to keep up with in this fast-paced environment.
