I have been working at Academi full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Honestly, at least I have a paycheck, but this place is really taking a dive and it's been coming for a while. If there's any good reason why, it's hasn't been communicated from the top down, hence the reason all the complaints you see against management...but they're not the ones being cut or affected by diminished staff and increased work load! All I know is Moyock location is a shell of what it used to be.

    Cons

Terrible morale, no upward advancement, no pay raises for several years, increased workload with less people, evaluations are overridden by Reston, VA who have nothing to do with operations down here yet make decisions on paper. Chow hall quality is down and price is up.

    Advice to Management

Need to make a change for the better quick! Feels like Moyock is being gutted at the expense of Reston.

I worked at Academi full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good people at the worker level in Moyock.

    Cons

Upper level management detached, physically and mentally. Caught up in mergers and acquisitions.

    Advice to Management

The assumption by senior management is that the "Swamp People" working on the compound have no option other than ACADEMI. Thus, they may be paid below market rates and have neither the intelligence nor education to participate meaningfully other than to be told what to do. The reality is just the opposite. They keep the place afloat and earn the money for the DC based managers' salaries.

    Cons

Overall poorly managed, company is restructuring and that might have something to do with it.

    Advice to Management

Do a better job at keeping your people informed, too much separation between shifts.

    Pros

Get to engage in relationships with your battle buddies. Grow together as a family with many individuals you may work with.

    Cons

You get shot at. You may or may not be involved in a firefight with other people who may try to take certain things from you.

    Advice to Management

    Get better Humvees.

I have been working at Academi full-time

    Pros

Pays well. Besides that it is nothing special. Do it for the money. Also it is a good opportunity to travel the world.

    Cons

Food served is not great. Living quality is ok at times and poor at others. Long time away from home is not for everyone.

    Advice to Management

Better care of your men. Living conditions could use improvement. Stop cutting down our benefits. Do not cut down pay and stop hiring under qualified people.

    Pros

Good working and deployed staff personnel.

    Cons

Company violates employment verification procedures (over-steps verification process and purposefully gives poor and inaccurate feedback regarding former employees). Management is aloof and continues to cowboy decisions. Most managers are under qualified and under educated. The parent company even worse. Top management is packed with former military officers who have no idea how to run a successful business. They treat the deployers like they were still in the military and their health benefits package is ridiculous, in the bad definition. I did three deployments and had difficulties reaching management and always ended up getting home 5 weeks after my each of deployment s ended.

    Advice to Management

    Fire middle management.

I have been working at Academi part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Fun job, great co-workers and easy commute.

    Cons

Unbelievably disorganized management, people in various positions are glaringly incommunicado (good luck actually getting someone to ever return an email or phone call) and in positions they are unqualified for.

    Advice to Management

Hire people who are qualified, really do want to be there (not just there because they knew someone or did a favor for someone) and hold quarterly meetings that allow your ground level instructors the opportunity to provide input.

    Pros

If you are only motivated by money, then this place is for you. But, be prepared for backstabbing, literally decisions made without a hint of understanding of ground truth and program managers saying, "I'm the alpha male, no one else is the alpha male, there is only one alpha male and I'm it..."

Incompetence is beyond comical to the point of unbelievable. When Jason DeYonker cares nothing more than the bottomline it is an indicator for the culture of the organization.

    Cons

Organization is solely motivated by money, period! Nothing more.

Zero growth opportunities as a contractor.

Program manager routinely lies, yes lies and is known as a lier. throughout the company and the client ranks. That he was employed with his pathological background clearly shows Constellis Group is solely motivated by money.

Disrespects people and is known to do so routinely.

Is allowed to do so cause of the contract is more important than Veteran employees.

Does not take are of Veteran employees/contractors.

    Is not Veteran friendly.

You are expected to bend over backwards for the company to fill billeting needs but little to no appreciation is given in return. You are used as a number and nothing more.

DO NOT be fooled by false advertising. Constellis Group is 100% NOT Veteran friendly.

Is known to verbally abuse employees.

Scheduler does not return phone calls or emails.

    Advice to Management

Close the doors and go work as a Walmart greeter. With your lack of leadership skills that is about as much responsibility as you deserve.
