Challenging anyone, including management, is encouraged. The company hired solid people. The company culture is really unique and inclusive.

    Cons

Sales driven organization, so features are often driven by sales people.

I have been working at Aconex (More than a year)

    Pros

Big enough to have a solid foundation, yet small enough for individuals to have a big impact
Strong investment in technology & infrastructure
"Can do" attitude across the organization
Exec team is available to everyone

    Cons

Being public and having to maintain profitability requires strict budgets
Downtown SF location can make for a challenging commute if you don't live in the city or near a BART station

    Advice to Management

Keep the "flat" organization culture. It's a real benefit that all employees feel empowered to engage with the exec team, and that exec team is available to consult and offer guidance.

I have been working at Aconex full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

1.)The product is great. Sounds simple but this is actually more profound than it appears at first. To develop a platform that is as ‘elastic’ as Aconex, meaning that it has the capacity to expand as an industry and the business processes within it does, is obvious and impressive. Simple to learn, no nonsense, very forward thinking by nature.
2.)The people are great both professionally and personally. Everyone here is eager to learn and improve, to mentor and be mentored and it is obvious.
3.)Their on-boarding process should be patented. It is exceptionally well done. Training and Certification is part of the process. I was very well prepared to sell the solution
    4.)The projects are awesome!
5.)They pay well and offer plenty of advancement opportunity. Fantastic work life balance.

    Cons

None I can think of. Best decision

    Advice to Management

    Keep doing what you're doing.

  8. "A great story of growth and opportunity - that's kept most of its early days appeal"

    StarStarStarStarStar

Current Employee - Anonymous Employee in San Francisco, CA

I have been working at Aconex full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The business is doing well and growing consistently, which creates opportunities: you'll get ahead if you are smart and take ownership. Still at a size where strong individual contributors are widely visible and recognized. The business works to avoid silos developing - most of the time it still feels like one team with common goals.

    Cons

Pushing ahead on several fronts at once means that life can be busy. You'll need to be comfortable with a certain level of chaotic energy to thrive.

    Advice to Management

Provide clarity and resourcing around priority areas, and ensure strong cross-team alignment . Recognize that alignment that may once have been natural needs more direction as the business grows.

I have been working at Aconex (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Fun company who has a chance to make it big.. Need to figure out if they want to grow up and get serious.

    Cons

Very cheap on the benefits. No stock options and the espp program has no discount to it. Come on guys ! You want folks to stay. Give out Stock and fix the espp.

    Advice to Management

Time to step up or step out.

I have been working at Aconex full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great culture in Melbourne Australia - much more solid than North America; wild wild west attitude of NA sales team - not always a good approach and the sales numbers prove it; interesting product - not anything really out there like it - promising acquisitions; potential to be not just a good software company but a great one

    Cons

Boys Club mentality - execs need to watch their behaviour at conferences - regional managers follow the "my way or the highway" school of thought, and can be bullying; give some leeway to your staff to figure stuff out; need more diversity in management

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work Leigh - keep an eye on North America - could use an overhaul in management
