I have been working at Applico full-time

    Pros

Love the team a lot. Interesting thought leadership and compelling projects. On a good tear with the business pivot and about to transform some really consequential client outcomes.

Really exciting trajectory for the company and a great deal of prescience.

Honestly, I don't want to work anywhere else right now and, if/when I do leave, the Applico bit on my resume is going to be strong.

    Cons

Communication & collaboration culture need elevation. More transparency and fairness.

    Advice to Management

Empathy goes a long way. Take a moment before giving a directive and think the next steps through.

I have been working at Applico full-time

    Pros

    - The current team is solid, and the enterprise strategy is a large departure from the previous history of Applico of being just an app dev shop.
    - Team works hard together, fun culture (pool, poker, happy hours).
    - Hungry co-workers who really want to excel in Platform Design and the service offerings that Applico provides
    - CEO is reasonable, communicative. I think hard lessons were learned in turning around the company, and the maturity in leadership is showing.

    Cons

    - Business can get "streaky" so riding the cycles is key.
    - Wish there was a bit more employee diversity (but every startup does).
    - For a small team, need clear stakeholders to drive project, or else it falls layside.

    Advice to Management

    - Take care of your people. Listen and nurture, and let's keep pushing!

I worked at Applico full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I'm interested in starting my own business, and Applico was a great place to learn how to do it. I got to work with a mix of startup and enterprise clients and alongside entrepreneurs who have successfully built and sold startups.

    Cons

Work is fast paced, so some people struggle. You'll get thrown into action quickly. Onboarding maybe could be improved, but I enjoyed getting involved with clients and the team right away.

    Advice to Management

Focus on platforms is really cool and unique. Core team is great, but seems like company needs to keep growing to meet its potential.

I worked at Applico full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

For a few years, the people there were amazing. Regardless of the insane CEO, the camaraderie got us through the day. The constant stream of cool, cutting edge product opportunities kept things interesting. It was good when everything was in-house.

    Cons

As long as Alex is involved, it's a stressful environment. At the end of the day, he really only cares about himself: being on TV, getting written up articles/blogs/tweets, promoting his book, and how much money he can get signed, regardless of the impact on the people who have to do the actual work.

It's amazing, after most of the company (over 50%) left in 2015, how it's still standing, with mostly new blood that doesn't (yet) know any better. FYI most of the vague positive reviews are from interns.

    Advice to Management

Stop the facade. The smoke & mirrors. Messing up W-2's multiple years in a row. Suing employees for wanting to leave...really, who does that?

I have been working at Applico full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

i want to eventually start my own platform business and the work i do for clients helps me with my future startup aspirations
i get to create my own process and have a lot of control over how i do my work
i like the projects we work on and opportunities we help our clients go after

    Cons

it would be nice to have more face time with the counter parts in LA
the office floors need to be redone
we don't get to be as involved with the clients' success after they launch

I worked at Applico full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

getting paid to watch a company implode while you build your experience and look for a better job

    Cons

    - CEO is unethical. continuous history of lying to employees and clients
    - company used to build apps with varied success. now it tries to do management consulting which it is failing at miserably. it is starting to go back to building apps because it is desperate for money
    - company has missed payroll on multiple occasions due to the lack of income and/or misappropriation of funds by CEO
    - i never worked with half of the people on their site's "team" page. they were long gone before i was there and yet they are still being advertised as employees. the company is really down to maybe 7-8 full time employees.
    - outsources to cheap vendors while marking up prices. work used to be done in-house, from what ive heard. not anymore.

    Advice to Management

i would recommend performing seppuku but i know that the CEO doesnt have the dignity or respect to carry out an honorable act. so, at least set up a periscope stream allowing old employees to watch as things burn from the inside.
