I worked at Aptuit part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

This position provided exposure to cGMP regulations, procedures, and a variety of test methods and instrumentation for raw materials, intermediates and final compounds.

    Cons

The workload was often excessive, and the instrumentation was outdated. This, along with frequent turnover of management and personnel, greatly affected employee morale.

    Advice to Management

It would have been beneficial to provide adequate pay raises to keep qualified and talented enployees.

    Pros

Great opportunity to interact with different companies.

    Cons

Poor work organisation and processes makes the work too stressful. No balance between work and private life.

    Advice to Management

Focus on people, the real added value of the company.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Aptuit full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

This is one of those companies that receives their operating capital from an investment group that has no interest in the employees, but only has an interest in increasing their profits. The result is that the people that actually do the work are pushed into trying to achieve goals that can not be achieved, i.e. too much work, not enough workforce.

    Cons

Horrible people, uneducated, ignorant, back stabbing atmosphere. Uses 'meritocracy' to get employees to work hard and then gives employees too much work to complete. No one wins and stress increases, no control over employees. Management is absolutely clueless. I became so sick from working at this company in NJ that I was put on disability and am still unable to work in high stress environments. Management was clueless and my particular supervisor died from the stress in his early forties. I witnessed people being removed from the premises on stretchers due to heart attacks and strokes.

    Advice to Management

Get to know the people that actually do the work and realize that the workforce needs to be compatible with the work load.

I worked at Aptuit full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Ideas from employees were taken seriously. Niche industry, so if you learn quick, lots of opportunity for advancement.

    Cons

Disorganized in some ways due to being a newer company that is attempting an experimental business model.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work.

I worked at Aptuit full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I honestly can't think of a single pro....except I got to visit the Edinburgh, Scotland facility many times during my later years there

    Cons

Senior management is the worst I have ever encountered. I had 12 bosses in 4 years. People would come in, find out how senior management is totally beyond reason and then they would come in the middle of the night and take all their things. The next day they would resign via email. I'm talking middle management here. I was a manager for 4 years and was originally hired by Quintiles. Life was great working for them. Then a group of private investors bought 3 division and proceeded to ruin all three of them. I knew the company was going under so I got out. ALL the good managers left.

    Advice to Management

Become a part of the real world. Your employees should be your most important asset - not the private jet or the $20k to move a retiring CFO's jacuzzi in the backyard of the house you bought him. Go back to grad school (if you went in the first place) and learn how to manage. Obviously you never learned this before. It is unbelievable how much bad behavior you can get away with by calling it "business." Better yet, sell whatever is left for the sake of the employees (since you obviously have no respect them) and go retire the the wonderfully expensive houses the company bought for you. It's too late to turn it around yourselves.

    Pros

Challenging environment, although energized by a team of talented resources.

    Cons

Status quo mentality and competition between global sites - created an environment of turmoil and animosity between resources.

    Advice to Management

Stabilize the business model and re-establish confidence in resources.

I worked at Aptuit full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Salaries were competitive at the start and got better.

    Cons

Lying to supervisors was expected. Managers viewed employees as expendable, with the the result that acquired companies lost their best employees within months (sometimes weeks) of acquisition. Integration of acquired companies was not possible because of conflicting and constantly-changing directives from upper mangers.

    Advice to Management

Learn how acquired companies work before making changes. Value employees at least as much as yourselves.

    Pros

    Harrisonville employees are GREAT!
    Good learning experience
    Great variety of work

    Cons

Upper management does not seem to have a clear business plan
No opportunities or willingness of management to advance employees after first few years
Company looks for anyway possible to save money
Always more work than can be done in reasonable amount of time with expectation of it being done in less time to meet monthly unrealistic billables

    Advice to Management

Focus on employee retention, rather than employee replacement
