I worked at Aptuit part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

This position provided exposure to cGMP regulations, procedures, and a variety of test methods and instrumentation for raw materials, intermediates and final compounds.

    Cons

The workload was often excessive, and the instrumentation was outdated. This, along with frequent turnover of management and personnel, greatly affected employee morale.

    Advice to Management

It would have been beneficial to provide adequate pay raises to keep qualified and talented enployees.

    Pros

New senior management in last couple years is very customer focused and strategic which has led to success across all sites.

    Cons

Being owned by private equity has its challenges. The owners micromanage the business but don't actually understand the business - to the detriment of the company. Recent success is despite them and the drag they place, not because of them.

    Advice to Management

Continue executing on your strategy. Try to mitigate the drag the owners place on the business, they don't know what they are talking about.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook

I worked at Aptuit full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

This is one of those companies that receives their operating capital from an investment group that has no interest in the employees, but only has an interest in increasing their profits. The result is that the people that actually do the work are pushed into trying to achieve goals that can not be achieved, i.e. too much work, not enough workforce.

    Cons

Horrible people, uneducated, ignorant, back stabbing atmosphere. Uses 'meritocracy' to get employees to work hard and then gives employees too much work to complete. No one wins and stress increases, no control over employees. Management is absolutely clueless. I became so sick from working at this company in NJ that I was put on disability and am still unable to work in high stress environments. Management was clueless and my particular supervisor died from the stress in his early forties. I witnessed people being removed from the premises on stretchers due to heart attacks and strokes.

    Advice to Management

Get to know the people that actually do the work and realize that the workforce needs to be compatible with the work load.

    Neutral Outlook

I have been working at Aptuit full-time

    Pros

New management team seems to have a clear vision.
Becoming a leader in pre-clinincal outsourcing.
Great science. Improvement in structure and accountability.
    Improved communication to employees.
    I

    Cons

Still in very early stages of growth so it's difficult to get resources.
Culture is still forming. Needs to be a better balance between big Pharma and small CRO cultures.

    Advice to Management

Understand that not all employees are motivated to move at light speed.
There are a lot of employees who are happy doing just what they have been doing. You need to invest more in regular communication with employees.

    Pros

Projects are scientifically varied and challenging. Exposure to various analytical and laboratory techniques helps bolster one's resume.

    Cons

A lot of favoritism by the clueless upper management resulting in the Peter Principle in action. No work/life balance due to poor allocation of work load by management. Pay raises and bonuses are a joke. Very poor opportunities for professional growth. Focus is on $$$ so the remaining sites can be sold or closed.

    Advice to Management

Your people are your greatest asset - treat them as such.
