Pros

The work matters and is very rewarding on most days. Your time is valued and you're not asked to work beyond an 8 hour day. The boundaries and expectations are clear. You get to meet interesting people (both clients and staff) that have a variety of life experiences. You can learn something every single day if you are willing to listen and be open to a different perspective.

Cons

The recovery business is, in fact, a business. While ARC is above a lot of money driven treatment centers, they do have their own version of it. The leaders are strong and charismatic. They know that as well and can rely on charm rather than substance in situations they assumably don't deem important to them. That's just a part of life, but they lead a company that brags about being better than the rest - more honest, more integrity - and they can use dismissive language to the lower level people who do such important work.

Pros

Hard to have pro's when you are doing emotionally draining work, for next to nothing, with a severe lack of good leadership.

Cons

Pay is very low. Even though the job requires you to manage people detoxing, dispensing meds, documenting, walking back and forth to the other houses, taking them to meetings, doing morning and evening meditations AND then doing the massive amount of chores daily. The management in my opinion plays favorites. And the favorites are HORRIBLE leaders, rude as hell and don't take the time to help you learn and grow, but will be the first people to complain about you if you make a mistake. I thought ARC was different, a company that cares, but it's not. The management makes 6 figures yet you are making next to minimum wage. They also seem to favor non people of color, and that was clear to me on several occasions. When I was there, many ppl quit and before you choose to work there? REALLY think about why employee turn over is so high?
