I have been working at CONSOL Energy full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Autonomy in your role to succeed
    - Executive leadership that understands and supports the need for modernization including but not limited to the use of information and analytics for decision making
    - Great compensation and benefits

    Cons

    - Some of the office productivity technologies in place are behind other E&Ps.
    - If you are not comfortable with change, this is a company in transition, but it represents the opportunity to truly contribute to its future and have a direct impact.

    Advice to Management

Continue to stay on message and ensure that every employee regardless of rank has a clear understanding of the company vision and strategy but also how they impact both in their role.

    Pros

First and foremost the work environment is great. Everyone is super friendly and willing to teach you new things or assist you.

    Cons

So far my experience has been pleasing. The environment is relaxing yet still stimuliating.

I worked at CONSOL Energy full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Pay and benefits. Worked with a great bunch of guys. The job itself was fun on most days depending on conditions

    Cons

Swinging shifts. Work/life balance. Danger of the job itself. Could be drafted to work every weekend. Job security was always in question.

    Advice to Management

Care more for your employers rather than stock holders

I have been working at CONSOL Energy full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Let's face it , no for-profit public company (except perhaps public utilities) is truly "loyal" to its employees, but some of more loyal than most. CONSOL has a very long history of retaining its employees for very long careers.

    Cons

The impending split of the coal business from the core gas business is causing anxiety among the coal business unit employees

    Advice to Management

Keep driving down drilling, completion, and operating costs and selling off non-core assets; use the proceeds to pay down debt an to acquire additional core assets and to drill new wells.

I worked at CONSOL Energy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Initially thought it was a great opportunity, what a mistake.

    Cons

Extremely unorganized. Lack of; care, drive, leadership. Out of touch with economics of their own business. They'd be out of the E&P business had they not had a ton of assets to sell off.

    Advice to Management

New management (T. Dugan) will straighten them out. Need to gut old guard.

I worked at CONSOL Energy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

First, actually last worked here in 2011, Glassdoor wouldn't let me go past '13 for some reason. Some of this may have changed since then.

Pay was great for an entry-level position, flexible (at least at the time) with time off without pay in emergencies, training provided, opportunities for overtime were plentiful at the time. Motivated individuals could strike for pilot after 2 years and be making near 6 figures 2-3 years after that.

    Cons

2 week hitches weren't a con for me at the time, but those with family or general troubles at home might find it difficult. The sleep schedule is too much for some people, 6 hours on, 6 hours off for 2 weeks at a time.

I worked at CONSOL Energy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good pay, exciting projects, incredible corporate office with a decent workout room (a little bigger than the average hotel gym)

    Cons

Poor communication and direction from management. This can be a pro, as there is no micro management here, but it is hard to complete a project without direction and communication from support groups such as purchasing/environmental.

    Pros

There really are none beyond decent compensation.

    Cons

    Unqualified board
A CEO that would struggle to run a 2 chair barbershop has run the company into the ground
