Pros

Free downtown parking when you're billable. Christmas party at a mid-range restaurant. Opportunities to participate in charitable events in and around Indianapolis. Water and coffee in the office.

Cons

This company is run by a woman who grew up as a technical recruiter. She is good at placing resources into low-level opportunities with the State of Indiana due to her relationships there. However, these roles are staff augmentation, not project roles. As long as you can be billable at a good rate, you'll be fine -- you'll be ignored. The moment your contract ends, you'll be asked to take a pay cut. If you refuse, you'll be fired. You may be fired anyway. The company has established this pattern. There's absolutely no strategy at work there. No proper consulting is coming out of this tiny shop. The work they get is awarded by virtue of their low-rates as a woman-owned business. The culture is gossipy and toxic. The office environment is sterile and stressful. HR is run as an extension of the President. Her wishes are HR's command with little regard for the law. There's way too much religion in this small business and the President doesn't think twice about referencing Bible quotes in meetings or one-on-ones. The President will disparage you to future employers who call for references.

Pros

If you don't know CSpring you will. It is a fast growing firm with offices in Indianapolis and Raleigh, NC. By definition CSpring is an IT Solutions Firm - offering Application Development, IT Strategy & Alignment, Data Analytics, and other leading edge (and legacy) technology solutions. But working at CSpring will quickly make you realize it's a company focused on "delivering success". For employees that means a culture and work environment that inspires people and excites them to come to work. People are empowered to make decisions, rewarded for excellence, and have an open door to leadership to voice ideas and concerns. You truly have a voice at the table regardless of role or position, and the staff are some of the brightest and thought provoking minds you'll find. A great environment to learn and grow. For clients it means a true partnership to share current business challenges, understand pain points, and drive solutions. Now I have worked in many firms where this is a mantra but not a reality. Here it's what we actually do. Partner, assess, and solve problems. Our clients trust and respect us, both firm and individual. We are not a number or a just a technical resource. We matter. It's great to be with a company with so much potential. Like being in on the proverbial ground floor, it's a great opportunity for an IT professional.

Cons

Like any small firm there are drawbacks if you are looking for large firm collateral benefits. Resources here are focused on growth and enablement so you won't find a lot of frill benefits or "boondoggles". (I don't find them especially meaningful as I value the great people and challenging work content.) This is probably not for those that just want to punch a clock but if you want to engage in your craft and be part of a team it's great place to work.

Pros

- Management encourages work-life balance - Small company means high visibility - if you're good at your job, and take initiative, you'll be rewarded - Compensation is competitive - Peers are some of the smartest consultants I've worked with - Caring owner CSpring is a growing company - and as you would expect, I've seen bumps here and there. But overall the company is solid, has put together a fantastic team, and is filled with people you would want to work with. I'm not sure why there have been several negative reviews lately - but I find them to be unfair. The people that work here - including the owner - are good people that are working hard to build a lasting company. I have yet to meet anyone here that I don't enjoy working with, and the owner is caring and takes the time to get to know everyone - I've personally seen her go above and beyond to help out those in need. In fact, I'd say I love my job! There are a variety of clients, interesting work, some of the most talented consultants I've ever worked with, and strong internal support. Most of us are off-site at the client most (if not all) days. But leadership works to stay engaged and provide consultants with the support that they need. If you are looking for a caring, growing consulting company, and don't want to work for a huge corporate giant, this is the place to be.

Cons

It's a consulting company - so sometimes the people you most enjoy working with end up on projects you aren't on. It's a small company - so some benefits aren't as good as they might be at a larger company.
