    Advice to Management

    Add fuel to the fire.

I worked at CYREN full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    They're great at lying..?
    They usually have air conditioning.

    Cons

How much time do you have people?
    1. The product does not work. Do you enjoy working on or selling VaporWare?
    2. The management style is Passive Aggressive.
    3. They refuse to pay out commissions as promised and change things around all of the time. If you like people taking your money this is the place for you.
    4. Some of the managers are self-righteous morons -- you know, the ones that you can't help but wonder what they did to get in their position. Yikes man!
    5. They fire people at a drop of the hat, and they don't even reply to the unemployment office - so you're pretty much guaranteed to get max unemployment for several months. Vacation anyone? Thanks Cyren, it was lovely.
    6. They refuse to pay for proper tools to do your job and then complain that you aren't doing a good job.
    7. HR is an absolute joke. Your side of any situation is moot and management will lie and it's considered sacred truth.
    8. The TP in the restroom is really sub-par.
    9. People call in sick for days and weeks and cancel their meetings - more lost money.
    10. Some sales people literally could not sell the product to some one begging to buy it. They'll talk them right out of it. I guess that's beneficial to the customer, but it sucks if you're trying to earn a living.
Well, that's all I can really think of right now. If you're actually dumb enough to work here after this review then you deserve the mistreatment.

    Advice to Management

Can you fire yourselves? If not, can you fire each other. Get a clue. Maybe a community college degree in management. I don't know. I've heard you can't fix stupid.

    Pros

    Great technical/engineering talent
Be part of a global company with the chance to make a real difference
New cloud web security strategy is turning the company around

    Cons

Distributed organization means you need to know what you're doing and be a self starter
Tight on resources, so you have to work smart

    Advice to Management

    Keep hiring great people
Keep the company focused on SaaS web security

    Pros

Globally diverse and talented team. Some of the most innovative and dedicated employees I've every worked with. Interesting technology that is focused on keeping users on the internet safe - it's a great cause and an exciting company.

    Cons

Best suited for entrepreneurial types - you really need to be independent, self-directed and self-motivated to succeed here. This is not an environment for a person who wants to work within a very structured environment...but this is a huge advantage for the right kind of person.

    Advice to Management

Hire industry experts in key positions who can help the company complete its transformation.

    Pros

It's a small company so your days will be busy and you will learn skills outside of your job title.

    Cons

Worse company I ever worked for. Low pay, hostile work environment (everyone is afraid of the CTO so people lie to him and throw others under the bus to keep their job and he believes).

They have no clear direction or plan and seem to be surviving off of investor money. Even if you have great ideas no one listens.

Get ready to be humiliated and unappreciated everyday. Seriously don't do it to yourself.!!!!

    Advice to Management

Be ethical and open to new ideas. Also pay your staff and appreciate them.

I worked at CYREN full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Most of the employees were generally nice but a lot of outdated policies and practices. Free coffee and some snacks.

    Cons

Their current business model has been stagnant and they were hoping the new services would be a success and unfortunately it wasn't. Management went through so many changes, none which were positive. The writing on the wall was when the most experienced and successful sales person left the company and was not shy about telling everybody that the new service was not going to be well received my the market.

    Advice to Management

Improve your product in order to compete with your competition.

    Pros

unluckily none anymore. what a pity

    Cons

The company became mess after the new management took over and simply destroyed all the existing core of business. Bought 2 companies without any due serious diligence and got stuck - 2 turkeys don't make one eagle.... $1.5 mil loss per quarter

    Advice to Management

Treat employees like valuable assets to the company not like toys. This will boomerang on you

I have been working at CYREN full-time

    Pros

-There are no pros; this place is insane. All they do is acquire companies and then let all of the people go. Not a small percentage - they decimate the staff. They products aren't that good either - if you look at the 3rd party tests, the products do worse than the majority of the competition.

    Cons

-Unless you're Israeli, you will never get a fair shake at Commtouch. The Israelis will frequently speak Hebrew in front of you and during meetings, leaving the rest of the room out of the joke. This happens in the US offices, not just in the Israeli one. And they don't clarify what they were talking about.
-Don't believe what HR tells you during the recruiting process; they will say whatever they need to in order to get you in the door. And expect them to low-ball you on salary--like $20 or $30K below market expecting you to negotiate.
-The CEO's executive assistant quit after only 4 weeks on the job...he's unreasonable and walks around after 5pm checking to see who is still in the office. He belittles people who don't agree with him, and yells at people openly during meetings. Like, really yells - not a raised voice. On top of that, everyone is forced to endure a "happy hour" which isn't all that happy - no one wants to be in the office at 6pm on a friday. You are expected to attend and like it.
-The benefits are bad and expensive. Since the most of the company's staff is not in the US, the healthcare plan is really, really bad. Not a good choice of doctors, and the out of pocket costs are 2X what I've seen at other companies. The 401K is a joke too, and don't expect any matching. They won't point this out during the hiring process--instead you'll be surprised when your paycheck is so low due to healthcare costs.
-They did not give out cost of living increases last year - don't think they will this year either, especially since a bunch of people were just laid off.
