    I worked at Carter's part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The people are great. It really is like a big family. Small store so felt very close with almost everyone. Usually there was things to do to keep busy, except at slow times. I was in a store that was sub-par though so I would expect at most locations there would be more to keep busy. Managers were very understanding of my school schedule. I was promoted with good pay, but it took awhile to get there. They will not promote you if you do not do a good job, which is good in a sense. Once I was promoted, I was a temp supervisor, and got promoted again to permanent. Within a couple months I got lucky like this and moved up about 3 bucks hourly.

    Cons

As I said, it was slow a lot. More than likely it was because of the location. Because me and my coworkers worked like a family, there was drama. Most of the time it wasn’t a big deal but I will say there were times where it got way out of hand. Typical of working with only women though. As a regular sales associate hours are kinda lacking. Works best as a second job unless you’re a manager. Customers were extremely rude at my location, but that can happen in retail often. Sometimes the upper management expected a lot of impossible tasks to get done in a short amount of time. Call in shifts were very inconvenient and almost always never used at my location.

    Advice to Management

Overall great place to start a job in retail. Drama is inevitable at times, but management should be able to keep it at a minimum. Call-in shifts were basically pointless- however my location stopped scheduling these. Hours are limited because it is such a small store. But great growth opportunities, honestly.
