I worked at Clarks part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Managers were attentive. Hours were flexible. Earning commission was pretty nice as well.

    Cons

Managers were sometimes too sales-driven but, other than that, there were not too many cons.

I have been working at Clarks full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Health, Dental, 401k, 3 weeks paid vacation, 50% discounting top of BOGO Promotions, 1 Free shoe each year, they pay for you to go back to school, buy a computer

    Cons

Retail hours, tourist mall, 45 hour work week, have worked 60 hour weeks due to lack of staff and store manager

    Advice to Management

Keep the promotions simple. Running two promotions at once not only causes mass confusion among shoppers, but often loses sales.

I worked at Clarks full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Partial commission base, lots of opportunity to make extra, great discount and products to choose from and all around enjoyable experience if you like to help people

    Cons

The management isn't trained properly and the District management is too far to help when needed. The training isn't available and it's very easy to not make money when the store is slow because of the partial commission.

    Advice to Management

Watch your store managers more closely to prevent negative situations from getting worse.

    Pros

You get paid every week and if you purchase shoes you have a discount.

    Cons

The location that I worked at would get so PACKED it was crazy how tiny our store was and we would have about 20 costumers on a Monday morning.

I worked at Clarks full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great benefits and good people to work with in numerous departments of the business. Wonderful people that are a pleasure to work with in the field and office.

    Cons

Too much change over the last few years has eroded the culture of a once great company. No longer a place people love going to work.

I have been working at Clarks full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Discount. Fun environment, not quite corporate so not too focused on numbers. Working with shoes is a great opportunity for everyone.

    Cons

Commission based can be tough for some. Your pay isn't guaranteed if you can't sell. Ask employees about their specific management and if they really listen to their employees

  8. "Store Manager"

I have been working at Clarks full-time

    Pros

    Heath insurance
Pay is ok until now when they took our Bonus potential away. Plus hearing they are going to try and roll out a new pay program which will take 10% away from all management team members.
    Employee Discount
Free pair of shoes each year.
    Vacation

    Cons

Tell us they want us to succeed and there are tools and classes we can use that the company will pay for but won't let us use them or pay for them.
Communication from upper management sucks- a lot of lies and talking around everything
Blaming the stores for low sales when the stores can't get the product they sell and customers are looking for. No wides and narrows When we tell them what we are looking for it takes months to get. They have gotten rid of products that customers are looking for.
Computer suck and crash all the time. Which cost stores money.
Stores low staff. Need more employees thru out the day, 2 open and 2 close.Things happen and people shouldn't be alone in a store.
Upper management don't respond or communicate to stores or managers. They email about things and respond back it takes them 2 weeks to respond back.
It takes 4 months to interview for positions with in the company.
We promote people with no experience and don't promote people that are making a difference. Plus they tell people they don't have experience, and won't tell them how they are going to help them get promoted or the next level.

    Advice to Management

    No more commission based sales.
Salaries and horly rates are better are better.
    Get new computers.
    Trust your managers
Promote people that are do well multiple years in a row, not 1 year.
Go back to old school training.
    Spend money on training
Stop making changes every 3 weeks.
    40 hour work week
