I worked at Clarks full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Discount on product. Sort of flexible schedule. Talented people under management level.

    Cons

The golden years of Clarks have passed. It used to be a place that folks outside the company said you wanted to work at. Unfortunately management is top heavy and not open enough to their employees. There is not enough workers to complete all the necessary work which makes trying new things nearly impossible as you are always rushing to catch up. There is little opportunity for growth in your position as your counterpart in the UK, if you are allowed to communicate with them, will always reap the benefits before it may trickle down the United States. While many talented people work there it can be a toxic environment as cliques are established and if you are not willing to play the 'game' then you will become the source of gossip and ridicule though they will treat you great to your face. There used to be a focus on making it a great place to balance work and outside life but over time management has established rules that prevent even the basic of life event's (ie. making sure your kids get to school) an issue.

    Advice to Management

Trust your employees. Allow them the freedom to express their ideas and try new things. Just because its become the norm doesn't mean it can't be bettered. Give them time and the opportunities instead of rushing to the next thing just to get it 'done'. Don't lock yourself behind your office doors – learn your employee's name, interact with them and ask how you can make their experience better.

    I worked at Clarks part-time

    Pros

Commission- based. Fun when you have a good team. Good money when working christmas time and holiday season.

    Cons

Small team=more reliability. Internet return issues. Marketing promotional issues. Hard to make money on weekdays at malls where less and less people seem to be going to and switching to online shopping.

    Advice to Management

The guys at top are confused with how to market the product which also confuses the costumers. There can be 3 promotions going on at the same time saying one thing in the store and another completely different promotion online. Figure out how to solve this and help back up the sales team more.

I have been working at Clarks full-time

    Pros

    - Free pair of shoes and time away from this place

    Cons

    - Toxic work environment. Business is bad. More and more store closings. No room for growth. Management doesn't trust employees and likes to micromanage. So many toxic departments and leadership could care less. No flexibility unless you are a favorite - treated like hourly employees clock in at 8 take hour lunch leave at 5 repeat. Coworkers are so shady and untrustworthy. So many people have left the business in the last year and a half. Had a freeze on raises and definitely no bonus will be paid out.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees, don't rely on what the managers say. People are miserable and there is so much negativity. Even new hires realize the mistake they made in taking the job. Recruitment sells you on how great it is to work there but don't buy into the BS. Find another company that is thriving and doesn't micromanage their employees.
