I have been working at Compact Power Equipment full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

You get paid weekly, you get a company vehicle, they cover all travel expenses and reimburse meals up to $36 a day while traveling overnight out of town.

    Cons

Management is all over the place on rules and regulations. Same with the contract terms on some customers. We were also just purchased by The Home Depot, quite a few technicians aren't very excited about this.

    Advice to Management

The direct management is fine, even the Divisional management is alright for the most part. The VP of the company needs to quit "ruling by fear". Those tactics are outdated and he needs to change. That "fear" trickles through the veins of the company and rests in the techs. That affects the production and morale.

I have been working at Compact Power Equipment full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Flexible. Decent pay and benefits.

    Cons

Sometimes you feel a bit of a condescending attitude towards the techs from other departments and upper management.

    Advice to Management

    Keep it real.

I worked at Compact Power Equipment full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Not many, flexible hours is a plus just very rare to get 40 hours of work for a week.

    Cons

If you like working holidays and weekends without overtime pay this job is for you.

Web based platform for diagnostic tools- Completely dysfunctional, way too many redundant files with no flow to them. Too many equipment files having been duplicated in other files. New/old equipment not always easily to identify with the file description being completely off in many cases. Huge time waster.

Inventory System- Inventory was very rarely correct, completed inventory twice and after this should’ve been 100% correct when ordering a part for a call and never was. How can you monitor parts usage when there’s obvious issues?

Driving Home 1.5-2.5 hours from a location I would never in my normal routine be located and to donate 45 minutes of that time back to Compact Power every trip is just NOT reasonable and WEAK POLICY!

    Advice to Management

    FIX your dispatch system!

I have been working at Compact Power Equipment full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great company to work for. The company has changed so drastically in the past 4 years for the good. The company has more internal structure and stability than it use to have.

    Cons

Advancement is difficult if you have been here for a number of years. The company doesn't promote from within like it use to and that is discouraging for the employees that have put their time in with Compact Power. There are many loyal and longtime employees here that deserve raises and promotions that are over looked.

    Advice to Management

Give the people that made Compact Power what it is a chance to flourish and show what they can do. We are here and ready to take the company to the next level just give them a chance.

    Advice to Management

    Pros

Competitive pay with benefits and vacation pay plus company vehicle

    Cons

Management does not listen to their workers on the front lines. No profit sharing. Overtime pay is pathetic.

    Advice to Management

Less micromanagement, Restructure the overtime pay, Listen to your field workers

I have been working at Compact Power Equipment full-time

    Pros

This is a good company to work for. I feel that I have potential to move up in this company. I am left to do my work for the most part.

    Cons

My boss is a micro manager and is too worried about numbers. The pay structure is lacking, but you can make a living.

    Advice to Management

The Area Rental Managers should be treated more as managers and not just techs.

I have been working at Compact Power Equipment full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The company is directed by their 7 core values which are very in line with my own.

    Teamwork-Hustle-Results-Integrity-Professionalism-Service-Fun.

I live these everyday, and this company makes it a perfect fit for me. I like to work and serve others. I get paid decently, the benefits are great (compared to my last job). The company has direction and drive which are the best thing for a growing company. I feel the vibe from all I come in contact with. I really enjoy going to work everyday. Being in a different location doing what I like to do is a plus for me. Problem solving and fixing equipment are like puzzles to me. I feed off of being pushed out of my comfort zone which only makes me a better technician.

    Cons

With a growing company comes growing pains. The kinks are still getting worked out to make this good company a great company to work for. If you are stringent and cannot go with the flow as things change, this may not be the company for you.

I really have no other con to report.
