I have been working at Compact Power Equipment full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The company is directed by their 7 core values which are very in line with my own.

    Teamwork-Hustle-Results-Integrity-Professionalism-Service-Fun.

I live these everyday, and this company makes it a perfect fit for me. I like to work and serve others. I get paid decently, the benefits are great (compared to my last job). The company has direction and drive which are the best thing for a growing company. I feel the vibe from all I come in contact with. I really enjoy going to work everyday. Being in a different location doing what I like to do is a plus for me. Problem solving and fixing equipment are like puzzles to me. I feed off of being pushed out of my comfort zone which only makes me a better technician.

    Cons

With a growing company comes growing pains. The kinks are still getting worked out to make this good company a great company to work for. If you are stringent and cannot go with the flow as things change, this may not be the company for you.

I really have no other con to report.

I worked at Compact Power Equipment full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

No micromanaging. Freedom to make decisions. Growing company. Great job to learn some valuable skills and go somewhere else.

    Cons

Customers destroying equipment and you always have to answer the phone when they call. And they will call when your spending time with your family and friends, at a ballgame, or just relaxing at home.

    Advice to Management

Give techs at least 2 days a week when they don't have to answer the phone

I have been working at Compact Power Equipment full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Most of the associates I work around are good people, very friendly and good conversation

    Cons

This company has taken advantage of all of my misfortunes. From being severly over worked when it became known i was buying a house (have to have a job for one full year) to being severely underpaid for doing things that were never discussed. As soon as things get stable in my life, I'm off to another job and I'm never looking back!

    Advice to Management

The parts department is a total wreck, your payroll system is terrible and in my experience, the managers abuse the power they have over certain employees.

I worked at Compact Power Equipment full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Free coffee or tea. Friday free breakfast. Not strict on dress code. Some employees wear jeans during the week when they are not supposed to. Tattoo’s showing on employees when in the hand book says no tattoos showing

    Cons

Very inexperienced team leads. This is in the service side call center. Team lead talks about other employees in team meetings. Very unprofessional. Very sloppy dresser and under arm Oder.

    Advice to Management

Don’t shut out the employees that have many years of experience. Open your ears and eyes just because someone knows the computer DOES NOT MEAN THEY CAN MANAGE. You can’t take a pig and call it a horse. A pig is a pig

I have been working at Compact Power Equipment full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

You get paid weekly, you get a company vehicle, they cover all travel expenses and reimburse meals up to $36 a day while traveling overnight out of town.

    Cons

Management is all over the place on rules and regulations. Same with the contract terms on some customers. We were also just purchased by The Home Depot, quite a few technicians aren't very excited about this.

    Advice to Management

The direct management is fine, even the Divisional management is alright for the most part. The VP of the company needs to quit "ruling by fear". Those tactics are outdated and he needs to change. That "fear" trickles through the veins of the company and rests in the techs. That affects the production and morale.
