I worked at CompuCredit full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Worked there for 2 years after the buyout of Providian Financial. I was in the collections department as a manager and had a lot of opportunity to grow and develop. Great management and drive. Stay on your toes!

    Cons

Not all ideas made it to the top - even great ones that I believe could have been game changers. Typical politics as in any big corporate gig.

    Advice to Management

Stay close to front line employees.

I worked at CompuCredit (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I enjoyed working at Compucredit because, I enjoyed talking to people about their debt. I had people cursing me out but by the end of our conversation they didn't want to talk to anyone but me.

    Cons

It's important to be honest with people and put yourself in their shoes. How would you want someone to treat you?

    Advice to Management

It's not what you do, it's how you do it..

I worked at CompuCredit full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

A very relaxed company, I had one on one training. Everyone there is always willing to help.

    Cons

One of the main perks I liked about CompuCredit/Atlanticus was you could work whatever hours you want as long as you do your 8 hours. Also, we could work from home 1 sometime.

    Advice to Management

My manager, when I was hired back in July, 2013, was a person that took time to explain things to you. She was a person you could ask questions and always had any open door policy.
Most of the managers here had an open door policy.

    Pros

I was in a good team, in a good working environment.

    Cons

They renamed to be Atlanticus now, but still try to use the business model that brought them success 10 years ago. It is not growing, which means not much growing opportunity inside the company.

I worked at CompuCredit full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Operations/Customer Service was a great place to execute on high-value ideas and initiatives with little red tape and be recognized for initiative and hard work. Management did a great job of creating an optimal environment within Operations and cross-functionally where possible to deliver results.

    Cons

Intra-department politics & related business ineffectiveness not addressed by Senior Management. Diversification of core business to improve stability.

    Advice to Management

Senior Leadership was not trusted, probably due to being too disconnected from employees. Value people and their ideas. Understand what's going on closer to the front lines. Build trust. Actively and intentionally engage people, remove roadblocks, empower each department, and your employees will drive success for you.
