Pros

Generally speaking, the co-workers at CIT make the job worth coming back to. It's never the same day twice, and there's plenty of tech to sink your teeth into.

Cons

This review is specifically for the Managed Services department and how it currently stands. Job progression is completely hit-or-miss. If you, personally, are not friends with a clique-y management team (who constantly promotes and safeguards each other), then do not expect to advance, even if you have more certifications than they do. CIT will often hire outside the company to fill positions higher than yours, even if you have qualifying certifications and/or have expressed interest in said position. Positions will be denied to you due to personal reasons with management just as much as qualifications. CIT's management does not care for or recognize your individual talents, and positions are approved based on who you agree with, not what you would do well at. CIT, as it is now, values conformity, not merit. Communication barely exists, either interdepartmental or interpersonal. Management would rather assume your intentions and act upon their assumptions rather than actually talk to you. Your job roles can change without your input, management will hold meetings and decide things for you that you will have no part in. The only meetings you will likely have are the mandatory team meetings and when management feels you screwed up (whether that's actually accurate or not) and feels the need to tell you (which won't be often, see above). Leadership personnel also double as points of escalation and are often busy with their own caseload. If leadership is able to assist you with an issue, it's because you managed to luckily snag one instead of them making themselves available. While CIT will help you to gain certifications, do not expect on-the-job training besides the barebones needed to get you to start answering calls. Any time CIT requires you to do training to perform your everyday duties, beyond simply new-hire training, they will also require you to do it on your off-time. Is CIT implementing a new internal system? Expect them to require you to take hours of training on your personal time. Look at the other reviews. Do you see the boilerplate responses left by CIT? That is also how company responses are as well. If you bring a concern to management and/or HR, you will receive a Standard (tm) Response explaining why you are wrong and should just do as you are told, even if these matters are deeply personal issues, including bias and harassment. Don't expect a satisfactory resolution (unless you hold a higher rank) or follow-through. Also, in looking at the other reviews, note how they all comment on how good the co-workers are. Tellingly, the fake 5 star review doesn't mention anything about co-workers. Basically, if you want to work here, in CIT's current state, use it as a stepping stone to greater things. CIT lags behind the industry in wages and benefits, and its leadership culture is toxic and self-serving, but it's a good place to meet good co-workers and get your feet wet with corporate-level IT. There's plenty of potential here, if enough work goes into things to turn it around.

We are sorry to hear you feel this way and are always available to listen to employee feedback. At CIT, we do our best to provide our employees with the best workplace culture and environment possible. While we apologize you felt we did not uphold this, we would like to point out that we do try and balance a blend of compensation, great benefits, and employee experiences and are sorry to hear you were disappointed.
