I worked at Datum Software full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good opportunities for consultants, Stable company

    Cons

Management panics quickly and is very gullible. Can be very unprofessional to employees at times.

    Advice to Management

Get your act together. Burning bridges is not a great strategy to grow.

    Pros

A family oriented company, hires talented people.

    Cons

There's a major disconnect between senior management and lower level employees. It seems they do not know what type of company they want to be. Communication between departments lacks, I would not recommend this company to anyone.

    Advice to Management

Take the time to get to know what your employees want and who they are. It will make for a better working dynamic.

I worked at Datum Software full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Were willing to negotiate the salary to match qualifications and experience.

    Cons

Will sever employment swiftly due to budget with no hesitation.

    Advice to Management

Give employees 30 days advanced notice of budgeting shortfalls with potential lay-offs, and provide 30 days minimum severance pay; effectively putting employees first. After all, without your expertise, you have no business.

Should give more paid vacation the 2nd year.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work! in crease pay.

I have been working at Datum Software full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

As the title says, the people at Datum are awesome; every person I've interacted with was friendly, smart, and on the ball. They've represented me well, and were always prompt with feedback from the hiring company. I never went too long without hearing from my reps at Datum, even if they hadn't heard back from the hiring company. I feel like they're truly on my side, and always advocating for me .

    Cons

Salary is a bit low for my level of seniority and experience. But having said that, it's likely in line with salaries at the company I'm contracting with.

The disconnect comes because, the corporation where I contract has amazingly top-flight benefits, and it would seem that contractors here would either make a higher salary, or be on a better benefit plan to make up for not having those benefits.

But the 401k at Datum is unexpectedly good, and health insurance is about average, but I'd think they might make up for our lower salaries with more paid holidays, or more vacation days per year.

    Advice to Management

I love working with Datum: they're a top-flight business, with high integrity. But if I _were_ to be lured away, it would be with a higher salary, or at least more vacation, or other benefits to balance the lower pay. The salary I'm making now is about 10% lower than standard for this job, in this area (Atlanta), and for my experience & skills.

    Pros

Family atmosphere is great, though that is changing. Datum may be changing to a churn and burn shop, so be careful.

    Cons

Needs more clients, needs to compensate better.

    Pros

Attentive, caring management. Employees feel connected and involved. There's a great 401k plan as well. I only left to become a government employee

    Cons

Only the fact that the company is based in Georgia, so they are a bit removed geographically. Made it just a little difficult at times to get hold of management whenever an issue would arise

    Pros

The Staff is very friendly and responsive. They take care of any concerns quickly. Promise what they tell.Good work culture.

    Cons

Limited scope for growth. Pay less. Not many good paying clients. Do not work on percentage basis for consultants even if the client agrees to pay more.

    Advice to Management

Think about including percentage basis consulting. Provide more scope for growth.
