    Pros

at least 5 words for Pros

    Cons

Juvenile, High Pressure, Under Resources, Misogynistic, Immature engineering practices, many immature inexperienced managers promoted out of their depth as a way to move "up" form engineering.

    Advice to Management

Disband "leadership" team and actually lead. Have fewer managers.

    I worked at Demonware full-time

    Pros

    - lots of vacation time, 5 week plus bonus xmas days
    - flexible hours
    - full kitchen eg. salad bar, deli meats, breakfast things
    - provides a great environment for interns and people starting out their career

    Cons

    - no real direction
    - management are in positions that they have no experience in
    - tech debt that keeps growing and really follow things through before moving to the next shiny thing
    - decision makers are selected based on time worked at company and connections to management. The right people are not selected which causes support to be challenging
    - ask questions about turn-over and direction as some teams are better than others and their managers are better suited for their jobs which make the experience much better
    - get clear understanding about crunch time hours so you are aware that some longs days(months) will require longer hours

    Advice to Management

Do more to keep everyone other than managers happy. Too many people have left Demonware that were not heard and were not happy. When the underlying issues is the same, management is probably to blame.

    I worked at Demonware full-time

    Pros

Working at Demonware was great, it's such a supportive atmosphere with tonnes of employee perks. Made a few really good friends here who are now friends for life. It's just a fun place to be.

    Cons

Nothing really, whenever employees were upset with something management did their best to address it.

    Advice to Management

    Keep it up!

I have been working at Demonware full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Everyone is extremely friendly, helpful and passionate about their work.
Get to work on some great game titles.
    Really good work perks.

    Cons

Dublin office revamp still has a lot of issues. Meeting rooms difficult to book especially during evening when Vancouver office is required.

Onboarding for new employees could be a bit better.

    I worked at Demonware full-time

    Pros

Ability to make an impact, both in your work (small teams) and with the end product (on some of the top selling and most widely played games in the world).

Culture that puts a strong emphasis on work-life balance and awesome benefits (Matchstick coffee, 5 weeks of vacation!).

Great people and growth opportunities, in terms of challenging problems as well as in terms of your career within the company (especially across Activision as a whole).

    Cons

Leadership is still refining their organizational structure. Its moving in the right direction and improving, but there were a pair of back to back reorgs that could've definitely been better communicated and executed upon.

I have been working at Demonware full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Part of large company (Activision Blizzard) but with independency to do things on our own;
    Smart and friendly co-workers;
    Tech challenges - supporting large scale online games;
Awesome benefits - 5 weeks vacation!

    Cons

Every company has its own problems, people was saying there is a lack of transparency from leadership team before. But within my 1+ years here, I can see the leadership team is trying really hard to imporve it via different kind of communications: town hall meeting, email update, beer talks to provide updates about where the company is heading to.

I have been working at Demonware full-time

    Pros

    - Chance to work with real large scale systems
    - A lot of autonomy
    - Great benefits

    Cons

    - It really depends on your team. Sometimes different teams feel like different companies (which affects collaboration a lot)
    - Technical leadership is definitely not great. A lot of managers are focused on projects/people/requirements with a little focus on tech. But it's getting better

    Advice to Management

Fix communication between teams and make sure there is enough technical mentorship for everyone.

I worked at Demonware full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The engineering challenges you work on are inspiring. I enjoyed building software that would impact millions of people. I'm still in awe of the games I worked on and challenges overcome with my teams.

Teams and people you work with are great. The culture has changed since it's scrappy startup youth, but that's ok. As the depth of responsibility grows then the company must evolve in turn.

It doesn't have the same time-intensive crunching that most game studios have, which is excellent. For most teams, the whole year is within 40hr work weeks. If you are on a launch team then there will be a few extra evenings or weekends as you get into the final months. That's alright, the bonus and benefits make up for it.

For the most part, if you are ambitious and enjoy the work, there's excellent career opportunity and growth. Lots of new tech to work on, many chances to learn. They'll fly you around the continent for training and conferences to help develop your career and skills.

    Cons

Open-ish seating plan. An ideal work environment would be (team) offices. Although they've tried hard to provide noise/sound/visual isolation for the team pods.

Keeping hundreds of people across multiple offices and time zones is hard. I don't think any company on this planet has solved that yet, but there are strides to be made yet in getting teams & departments coordinated across the oceans.

    Advice to Management

Determine your business & product vision. Paint that goal for your teams - let people rally towards a tangible success instead of getting caught up debating about clouds.
