.) Unqualified CEO - Even with a tenure of more than 10 years, the CEO is not getting better at the job. She consistently exercises poor judgement, has close to zero management experience outside of Dream.Org, and demonstrates no signs of possessing humility or even an ounce of self- awareness.
.) Poor (absent) Executive Leadership: executives lack fundamental business acumen and have minimal expertise in their respective functional areas. Further, nearly everyone in senior management have side hustles, consulting gigs, and/or small businesses that keep them from giving 100% to their FT job at Dream.
.) Too Top Heavy -- The organization's executive / sr. management team accounts for almost 40% of the staff. There a lots of big titles producing little results. The C-level executives all have significant compensation packages, yet are the least talented among the staff.
.) Poor Board Governance / Oversight -- the board of directors is a rubber stamp at best. The board is mostly made up of friends of the CEO and other executive staff. One board member is the business partner of the chief people officer and their firm has a separate contract with the org. The conflicts of interest are significant and not fully disclosed.
.) Money vs. Impact -- the organization spends millions of dollars, yet achieves little impact. The executives are more concerned with superficial, flashy headlines, rather than substance. Further, they demonstrate zero working knowledge/experience delivering high quality programs and services to vulnerable communities.
