Great Place to Work for the Right People
Oct 14, 2022 - Business Development Manager in Boston, MARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
One of the best company missions and values that I have worked for (and company leadership is focused to work according to those, not only put them on paper). A lot of really talented, passionate, and humble people. Doing interesting & meaningful work for our clients. Flat management - you are encouraged to speak with everyone as your peers, and everyone is very forthcoming. Flexibility - you are encouraged to work from one of our offices across the world but if needed you can always work from home and any hours (so far as you can do your job). Learning - as we are offering learning services then there is a ton of great material to learn from internally as well as a lot of experienced and smart people that are always happy to share their wisdom.
Cons
The first half of 2022 was quite challenging & chaotic taking into account that the Emergn had big offices in Ukraine & Russia but I believe the company has come out of it stronger and more focused.

Pros
Work from home with ok benefits
Cons
The leadership team here is unqualified. It’s painfully ironic how we as a business promote VFQ (Value Flow Quality), yet the leadership team doesn’t practice what they teach. Humility, trust, and respect are almost absent at the c-level, and it makes working here difficult to say the least. Me, my team and my colleagues cannot ignore the disingenuous garbage that flows down the Emergn hill each day. Yuck. If you are interviewing here, probe with questions about culture, the VFQ way of working, and how the organization actually practices this. Request to interview with your hiring manager’s manager. Ask about voluntary and involuntary employee attrition numbers and trends. Do some research and discover how many VPs and other senior staff have left the company over the past three years. You may be surprised.

Pros
Good opportunity to start a career. Access to courses.
Cons
The company literally left its employees without compensation in one country. The relocation program was - here is your money, move to another country and we MAY help you with the legal aspect. Really impolite, they don't really care. If you are working for Emrgen remember - your problems are only yours, even if there are some responsibilities written down and taken by Emergn. Your workload is up to you, if the project is demanding, you wouldn't get off the laptop.
Continue readingWe are very grateful for our RU team and how they've contributed to Emergn's success. I know that our clients and so many more are equally saddened by what's happened regarding the war. While we are sensitive to the difficulties our employees and our company have experienced this year, Emergn has complied and will continue to follow all legal requirements to respond to our people in Russia.

Pros
The benefits are good for a company that is so bad
Cons
The senior leadership team is unqualified and arrogant. The biggest issues with our leadership are 1- humility, 2-their qualifications and 3-respect for others. The first time I witnessed one of our senior leadership team members interact with my team I was dumbstruck and sickened at how we were spoken to. The most basic leadership principles are not used at Emergn, Ironically, our highest-level leaders do not practice what they love to preach.

As a current employee for over three years, you would know that isn't how our leaders operate. I'm sorry you feel the need to share such a negative sentiment, and the most we can always do when someone posts anonymously is to offer a conversation to help improve and resolve a matter.

Pros
It’s a job that pays me for my time
Cons
Our senior leadership team it very unqualified and simple do not demonstrate either that they are decent people or that they are qualified to run our company. The talent is just not here. I’ve been at Emergn long enough to share that most of the casual employee chatter is about the incompetence of our senior team, especially our COO and CTO. They are difficult people to work with, always carry a holier-than-thou attitude, and are immature and inexperienced ‘leaders.’ Yuck, this place is painful.

Pros
Average benefits in my region
Cons
Our company has a revolving door at the c-level leadership level across most functions. During my 18 month time at Emergn, I have seen FIVE leaders come and go. We say we are 'management consultants,' however we appear to NEED consulting help more than we are capable of providing it. Truth be told, we are actually a contract software development company. The current senior leadership team at the 'C' level are grossly incompetent. Our CEO hides behind his lieutenants and has a short temper when challenged during infrequent company meetings. Our COO is profane and unprofessional and is widely regarded internally as faking it (until she hopes she makes it). Our Chief Strategy Officer is better at producing bloated PowerPoints than he is developing and communicating strategy. I'm clearly unhappy here, and I've hit an inflection point that forced me to publicly peel the skin off this rotten onion. Our company will likely respond with 'reach out to me directly and let's discuss' kind of message - guess what, I already have.

Pros
benefits are ok but work is miserable
Cons
This company is so poorly managed. It hurts to work here. It's painful working with people every day who are so miserable. The Emergn misery spreads like a contagion.

Horrible company. Underskilled leadership.
Mar 14, 2022 - Project Manager in Durham, NCRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Emergn is a comedic dramatic device. Each week there are new 'episodes' to enjoy that involve poor decisions, poor leadership, and a failed business model.
Cons
Each week that goes by, the leadership team of this company continues to feed the toxic culture beast that it has created. We are NOT a diverse company, most of the business is in Eastern EU (a significant issue now), and our largest office is in St. Petersburg Russia.

Thank you for sharing your views here. If you're interested in contacting me, I'm happy to listen and understand what we could have changed. Since 2009 when we were established, diversity has been core to this company. Look at our leaders across the globe and our teams. Again, sorry you felt that writing this post was needed. Always happy to talk, Alex

Unpleasant management. Unpleasant company.
Feb 19, 2022 - General ManagerRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Some people are OK, but overall the culture is unhealthy and draconian.
Cons
Emergn has a culture of fear that is administered by the senior leadership team. Our management team appears unqualified to solve basic business problems. Me and my team look for leadership from above, and it is simply absent at Emergn.

As a general manager here you'd be familiar with the Emergn Way and how we discuss it, try our best to live and talk openly about where we go wrong and need improvement. It seems we haven't done enough in your case so that you feel you can come to me directly, like most do in our company and open culture, to talk. Please consider it. It's always better when we're part of the solution vs being part of the problem.

Best avoid this train wreck
Apr 7, 2022 - Senior Manager in Dallas, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The first two months were pleasant
Cons
The management team is dysfunctional. Emergn pretends to be a company that it is not. The morale is low. Fear-Management is the modus operandi. Don't make the same mistake I did. Avoid this company. It's painful to work here.

As always, we want constructive feedback that helps us grow and improve. It's always difficult to respond to a review like this when there's no context just negativity. I'm sorry your experience with us ended in you believing that a post like this was needed. If you're interested in getting in touch with me directly, I'd be open to listening and understanding how we could have done something better or different. Thank you, Alex
