Pros

Benefits. Pay. Lots of Hours to be picked up because they never have enough staff.

Cons

When I started at Aldi, I was very excited. I had worked my way up at my previous job, and was excited to that at Aldi. There seemed to be way more room for advancement here. When I was hired they told me I would be promoted to shift manager within 6 months. Fast forward a year and others had been hired in and trained as a shift manager before me. I asked many times when my training would start and kept being put off. After going through 3 store managers and finally getting one who stuck, someone finally listened to my request and I was finally promoted. I was very excited to start my new position, but that didn't last long. Unrealistic expectations are an understatement. Nothing is ever good enough. You're always called on your days off to do in. They can't keep staff because they don't train properly and hire people who clearly are not a good fit. All that being said, I was still motivated to try and move up the ladder. I'm not one to let my goals get away from me. I was moved to another store and told if I prove myself I will get the promotion. At the new store there was no one there to mentor me. The store was a mess and had been run into to ground and was severely understaffed. I spent almost a year at this store and watched 3 manager trainees come in and get "trained" and fired because they weren't good enough. They hadn't mentioned a promotion and at that point I no longer wanted it. I was so burnt out and down on myself.
