Pros

- One step up from working at McDonald's. - It is rewarding to train and develop staff with leadership potential and help them accrue the necessary skills to perform a leadership role. - Free passes that you will eventually grow disinterested in using.

Cons

- Expected to work tiring, late night shifts, so you are always tired and sleep most of your time or days off. - You are expected to work the whole weekend and most holidays, most of the time, so you have little to no personal time or life to spend with family and friends. - No manager bonuses anymore and pay increases were frozen the year before last. - Very low pay ($11-15 per hour) and little opportunity to advance to a senior or general manager position. - A lot of the mgmt team hired or promoted within this company are incompetent and devious individuals to work with and/or for. - Performance reviews typically do not provide effective feedback and include mainly nitpicking advice. - You come home smelling like popcorn and/or fried foods a lot. - AMC has greatly increased daily expectations for their management teams, but will still only give you a yearly raise (as a manager) between $0.25 - $0.50 per hour, so you are typically competing with the minimum wage increases the film crew that work for you get in addition to their annual raises between $0.10 - $0.50. - If an AMC film crew member that works on your shift is evidenced by a mystery shopper to not effectively sales pitch AMC's new reward card program to a customer, you will be written up for it even though it is impossible for you to ensure everyone feels like doing it 100% of the time. - Little to no communication available from DO's (like a District Mgr) to manager's who must go through a DO interview for advancement to the next level. - Little to no recognition or compensation matching any hard work you put in. Many other manager's do the bare minimum or less and can expect comparable reviews as much harder workers depending on their likability with the GM. - Mgmt offices are typically cramped and appear dirty/messy.
