Pros

Large company, many employees, with room for growth. In-depth paid training. Opportunity for overtime, flexible schedules. The call center I worked at employed over 1000 employees, there was a lot of room to grow and potential within the company. It was an inbound call center servicing Verizon Wireless customers throughout the United States. Working with 800 agents if there was more time for employee interactions many strong relationship could be forged in the environment. Since the job actually services the entire United States there is opportunity to talk with many different people from many different walks of life, all over the United States, each with their own culture and ideas. I had the opportunity to speak with many different people, which was a very rewarding experience.

Cons

Minimal employee interaction after training. Tight Micro-Management. Pay scale inconsistent; little ability to control. Mandatory overtime. Stressful The job itself is rather thankless and stressful. People do not call Verizon Wireless customer care to chat, many times that have issues that arose from improper service from previous agents. A good 40% of the job was cleaning up after incompetent coworkers, not a very fun task; customers are very upset and they tend to take that out on the agent assisting them. Being an inbound call center, you spend 95% of you work day on a telephone waiting for calls, there is minimal time between calls and there is no opportunity to get to know your fellow coworkers. Management is very inconsistent. When asking for assistance many times management will not have a direct answer, and depending on the manager assisting you, response will be varied and rather unhelpful. There is mandatory overtime roughly 2 weeks out of the month, meaning you are required to work past your scheduled shift to meet overtime goals. An 11 hour day taking phone calls, makes for a very long day.
