Pros

A lot of the employees were really great to work with. Good support of sales staff by design architects and systems engineers.

Cons

Wide product line and large quotas meant sales people were like ping-pong balls. Customers did not come first - corporate bottom line was most important. Good 'ole boy politics throughout. No real training on administrative tasks which corporate required. Training that did occur was "this is how we did it", not really practical. Lots of meetings that took valuable time but didn't make things better. New CEO with accounting background saw things black or white in an industry where some things are gray. Upper management out of touch with how things really happen in their own sales force. Lots of us could see the direction things were going and got out while the going was good. Still sounds like the company is moving downward, not upward.

Working as an engineer you get flexibility without micromanaging. Lots of hardworking people at AOS, but also a very relaxed working environment

Onboarding process can be improved.

Pros

Worked with some of the best Design Architects and Sales VP in the industry. Had the ability to gain incredible knowledge in a short amount of time. Everyone who was in the trenches were very supportive of each other as we were facing a huge challenge. There were some great partnerships with forward thinking, innovative companies and it was exciting to have those in the portfolio.

Cons

No focus. Came at the market with out understanding that the "old school" mentality of sales does not work and will not work any more, especially in this market. As it is was proven. Account Managers were constantly held to unrealistic expectations and felt beat down to "sell more" AOS took on too many different partners and never seemed to have a focus on what it wanted to be. Although some of the partners were truly innovative and unique to AOS. There was never a unification of what our over all focus was. Taking away the momentum that was being built in a 15 minute warning to get on a mandatory call was disappointing to say the least. Especially after being told over and over that everything was ok.
