Pros

Most DAs are in their 20s and the general culture is amiable. Amazon offers great insurance packages. Some teams have less strict rules. The job is straightforward for anyone with a proficient understanding of the English language.

Cons

DAs are severely underpaid for having Bachelors degrees (most in linguistics) and working in the expensive Boston area. Amazon labels its employees using "level" numbers; the higher your level, the more you get paid and the closer you are to the VPs. Amazon found a perfect business model: to create low-paying data jobs, making jobs for engineers easier and their VPs richer. Amazon's values include "customers first" and "frugality." Around the Boston office, frugality is not celebrated (to say the least). It's been said by one of the managers here, "once a DA always a DA." It's nearly impossible to ascend in this company, at least not without many years of service to Amazon. Every day (with few exceptions) involves the same few tasks. Some of these tasks can become very tedious after a couple of hours, days, and weeks.

Pros

Really smart people, a lot of opportunity for growth, always encouraged to be innovative, think big, and create something new. Competitive salary and benefits with other major tech companies. 100% self motivating work environment. No dress code and 4 legged friends are welcome.

Cons

You have to be self motivated. NO ONE will hold your hand and tell you that you're doing a great job. If you need constant affirmations from management, this company isn't for you.
