Pros
Good comp, autonomy (for most part), ability to influence your objectives
Cons
Satisfaction/ability to succeed and/or advance in career are largely dependent on how competent your direct manager (and sometimes skip-level) is and how much they go to bat for you. Of course, you still have to be competent and hard working, I was fortunate to have capable and supportive managers during my tenure… but I’ve seen more than a few colleagues get held back from promotion and even pushed out of positions they were performing well in because they’re managers did not like them personally.
