The leadership situation in the Business Technology department at Appian is extremely concerning. Over the past 12 months, more than half of the leadership team at Appian has departed, and a significant number of high performing individuals—many of whom received high performance ratings—have also left the company.
Workload expectations are unrealistic, with little to no appreciation, bonuses, or recognition provided. Instead of investing in full-time employees, the department has increasingly relied on contractors, which has resulted in inefficiencies and wasted time.
The overall feedback culture is poor, and there’s little to no clear path for career growth. The recent mandate requiring employees to be in the office five days a week has further hurt morale and is viewed by many as a regressive and tone-deaf decision.
