Pros
It is a job. Nothing else.
Cons
ONLY applied to DDP department. Not sure about other departments. If you got a job offer from DDP (DSM), ask yourself one important question first: can being successful in this company make your life successful? If the answer is yes, then come and work here. To me, the answer is NO. To make myself successful in this company will benefit this company, but not my personal life overall. It is a very stressful job which will make you have no life. In the meantime what you receive in return is a really low salary that can barely cover the basic cost of living in the CA bay area. The company is making profits, but never reflected on employees' salaries. Bonus and stock is a joke compared to other bay area companies. Even directors and managers' packages for those who have worked 10+ years may not be comparable to what a new CS graduate can get. It might be an ok job for new graduates as a "boot camp" to start their career in a fast-paced, unorganized environment, then they can handle everything after leaving Applied. If you are in your mid-career, do not come. It has a very unhealthy work environment and culture. The turnover rate is really high for an engineering job, most people will leave in 3 years, and their position will be filled with new graduates. It is like each manager just has a team with 3-year contractors since most of the people do not plan to stay in this company long term. Management tries to control this but has had no success so far. Personally, I do not recommend working here, either for a career or life.
