Pros

The work you do is left at work when working in the main office. I have heard otherwise from the satellite campuses. My manager does give immediate feedback, and works closely to help grow our department, with consistent feedback. The building is a nice place to work, and for the most part is quiet.

Cons

The salaries across the board are far below market averages. For instance, my salary is $15k behind a competitor 50 miles away, and still in-state. We recently had a "readjustment" where I received a 3% "merit increase", and was told that those increases are "not guaranteed" year over year. Not exciting to hear when inflation has been 3% month over month consistently for 2-3 years at the lowest. Managers sometimes feel that micromanaging and passive-aggressive natures are the way to best communicate with their employees. You have to fight for yourself, and stick to your guns. Don't be afraid to speak your mind, but understand your boss's boss might get involved. I work for a small department in Sales. There is a total of 15 workers in my department split between 2 service lines. I have 1 co-worker in a similar role, and 3 Coodinators that work Operations for the two of us. We have been told for 12 months that we need to sustain a very specific % of Net-Revenue per employee. We reached this, and instead of hiring an employee to help both service lines, the company only hired 1 for the other service line, and everyone remains over-worked. We continue to be the only service line in ArcBest making money, yet we receive no investment from above management. My co-worker and I are responsible for daily calls, bidding large business, Operations and booking loads, and account management, for over 1,000 shipments per month.
