Demands from management are increasing, and so is technical debt - Software Engineer Arm Employee Review

Pros

Positively British culture, hard-working HR with employees' genuine best interests at heart. Excellent first start for graduates including critical networking opportunities for making connections across the company. New offices are comfortable and modern, as are the amenities. Strong personal connections between many managers and their employees, particularly amongst younger teams, and many cross-company contacts make it easy to find somebody with an answer to your questions (work or personal).

Cons

The recent hiring limitations are putting strain on teams already stretched thin, and a lack of compensation and recognition amongst hard workers lower down the food chain is breeding widespread contempt. Numerous projects suffer from the bus factor, and overly ambitious sprints and bureacracy leave little to no room for addressing arising technical debt in many projects. Compensation is good but the rapidly-rising cost of living in Cambridge is likely to become completely unsustainable for graduate hiring, which now seems to make up 99% of all hiring in CE-OSS - another time sink for stretched engineers - and for most employees in their 20s it is not financially feasible to see through the life goals that many older engineers saw through in their own 20s.

Thank you for your feedback and sticking with us, your honesty along with tenure is an example to what makes Arm, such a great place. Our rapid growth can mean some pressure for our teams which we recognise, however, hiring is still continuing where needed. Our Talent Acquisition team would be more than happy to talk you through the process. Technical Debt is a tricky one, one that is a hot topic for many businesses globally, but a challenge that I don't think will be solved overnight. Thanks again for your contribution and should you wish to pick any of this up offline, please don't hesitate to reach out GlassdoorFeedback@Arm.com

Getting busier than what it used to be. In a way that’s good.
