Pros

I just celebrated 15 years with CarMax. I have enjoyed all of my time with this company. From starting out at 19 years old as an entry level technician to getting master certified in Automotive repair. After years of being an automotive technician I was able to participate in the management development program. This really excelled my career and opened up many new opportunities. CarMax has supported me the entire way. The managers I have worked with have always pushed me to learn and grow and allowed me to learn from my mistakes. I also felt very supported when my family was going through a rough time. My team made me feel fully supported which allowed me to focus on taking care of my family first. It is something that I will always be grateful for.

Cons

Every business will have things they can improve on for their customers and their associates. From experience, CarMax takes these opportunities to look within and work to better the company for the associates and the customers.

Remote work, first 2 weeks of the 2 month training, offers sick time before PTO rolls in

Cons

Little to no worklife balance, toxic positivity (like when they called the meeting about taking away our bonuses “exciting news” and tried to gaslight us as to why this was a good thing), extreme micromanagement, listening to our headsets constantly without us knowing, AI rating our metrics, unrealistic expectations, you basically do 4 jobs in one (at Carvana, appraisals / selling, financial applications and documents / EPUs, sales and customer service were ALL DIFFERENT DEPARTMENTS.
