Pros

Good place to build foundational skills. Reputable brand name in the industry. Multi-line carrier with opportunities to pivot into different roles.

Cons

Managers are not leaders here - they operate out of fear. Managers give a lot of battlefield promotions to their favorites and people they are not threatened by from a talent perspective, rather than promote by merit, attitude, and qualifications. Talented women and people of color are often pushed aside and looked over for leadership roles for unqualified white men. Young managers often operate unethically, ignoring conflicts of interest, gender biased treatment from teammates, concerns around lack of diversity. HR has been made aware of managers who have lied on record, but there are no repercussions; these managers continue to retaliate against employees. Major pay disparity.

Pros

Business side is smart and is superb at their product

Cons

The IT organization struggles with structural challenges that impact efficiency. The offshore-heavy model in India means US-based employees regularly work early hours to stay aligned, which is unsustainable long-term. The workforce is heavily weighted toward a high-headcount service model rather than investing in strong engineering talent — you need fewer, better engineers, not more bodies. Central tech functions are attempting to build platforms, but without a clear shared understanding of what a platform actually means, these initiatives remain incomplete. The result is heavy manual workarounds propping up half-finished solutions. Strategic direction shifts frequently, and ongoing layoff announcements make it difficult to plan or build momentum.
