Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’re sorry to hear that your time here didn’t meet your expectations. We appreciate your perspective on HR and leadership communication. While experiences can vary, we take this feedback seriously and will review it as we work to ensure consistency and transparency in how we support staff. Regarding compensation and benefits, we regularly review our programs to ensure they remain competitive within the nonprofit sector. Competitive highlights include a strong retirement contribution, annual merit increases, flexible hybrid work, geographic pay differential, generous parental leave, extra holiday time, inflation adjustments for global staff and pastoral care. Our goal is to balance sustainability with care for staff across all global locations. Workforce adjustments are never easy, and we approach them with care and transparency. Past changes were made to strengthen areas like marketing and innovation, and more recent outsourcing decisions focused on reducing costs to sustain our mission. Whenever these shifts occur, we prioritize extended notice and transition support. While change is part of adapting to a dynamic environment, our commitment to treating people with respect and compassion remains constant. We appreciate your contributions during your time here and your commitment to our mission.

Pros

I can't say enough good things about Compassion. I've been here almost eight years, and I have no plans of changing that any time soon. The holistic model they have for child sponsorship. They have a similar holistic view of their employees. There's a strong focus on work-life balance. They make a generous contribution to our retirement plans. I may not have this quote exactly right, but I believe the president of Compassion has said, "The most important thing about you to Compassion is not what you do, but it's who you are." And I believe him.

Cons

No place is perfect, and the bigger they are, the less perfect they are. I wish it didn't take as long as it does to bring about change when it is needed, but it's a big ship and it's slow to turn. However, to paraphrase a funny quote, "Compassion is a lot like pizza. Even when it's bad, it's still pretty good."
