Pros

Lots of opportunities to excel, and a ton of resources at your disposal to get the job done. There is always something that needs to be done or can be improved or requires documentation. With so many things always on the go, its hard to imagine a time when one could get bored with working for Cummins. The benefits at Cummins are another area that most companies would having difficulty beating. Cummins has standard 401K incentives, health and dental and very competative salaries. Additionally, Cummins has a yearly bonus of 0-16% of your salary depending on how the company fared in the last year.

Cons

There is a great deal of information to shift through when you first join Cummins. This is a result of many many years of technical reports, engineering standard works, and standard operating procedures that have accumulated over the years. In addition, Cummins has a plethora of acronyms that make common communication anything but for a beginner. Expect to be lost, confused, and frustrated for the first 6 to 9 months after hire. Don't expect too much help, your coworkers will try where they can, but they will likely be swamped with their own work to give you a thorough show of the ropes. Unfortunately, the only way to learn as a new hire is to get messy and make some mistakes of your own.

Pros

You get paid for doing OT on weekends at the plant I work at now If you are in a shift that has less staffing you might earn more money on weekends as you will not have anyone to rotate with or less people to rotate with I am happy to have a manager who understands I have a lot of work pressure

Cons

If you are in a shift that has less staffing you will have a lot of work to do. For me the con is lots of work pressure in the shift I work. I think I do the work of atleast 2 people and sometimes even more. First shift will have people to rotate on weekends. Unfortunately 2nd shift doesn't have people to rotate with. We end up working every weekend but have same number of vacation days. People in 2nd can get there vacation days used up before other shifts. But still I would say its a good company considering I work in a manufacturing facility.
