Pros

Pay is as competive as any other 4 day work week typically but then they throw in mandatory overtime cause they can't manage a calendar

Cons

Advancement is only as good as your office and what I mean is quality checks because this is subjective no real standard on the couple individuals doing the checks management only as good as they see it at that moment completions as in the percentage of jobs assigned to jobs actually done no matter why they can not be complete trees or landlords restrictions or even customers rescheduling that's right I'm in the hospital and can't be home effects your promotions bonuses whatever stupid right I field calls all day from other techs how do you do this you ever ran into this most of time the manager himself directs them to me but I get yelled at for being on the phone and if I can answer all these questions and they can't why I am watching other techs advance and I am stuck field managers spend their day on the phone or driving big frigging deal me too except I also have heavy lifting working on ladders and dumb customers wanna trade and by the way if a field manager has a 16 hour day just think of the hard working tech that kept them there for 16 hours work on routing and you get home earlier techs get screwed by Computer software that can't tel the difference between one mile and one hundred miles not to mention If your shift is on Christmas day you are working maybe it will later then your typical start time but who wants their children crying no please don't leave on a special day like that it doesn't speak well for the customer who doesn't care it Christmas but the company has the ability to not offer it I mean really your tv needs to be installed on Christmas or fixed and dish decided ok we can have techs on hand to send out how many of them big wigs do you think were there none thanks joe how was your christmas cheery an bright oh and of there is not enough work which happens at least once a year they send you home without pay no options to work use your vacation if you have it otherwise sorry tell me who dish really cares about cause I am still wondering bottom line if there is another employer willing to pay even just 11 bucks an hour take it over this

Pros

Good middle management and compensation. Lots of opportunities to learn from plenty of smart people.

Cons

Disclaimer -This is all water cooler hearsay and opinion. During the two years I was there the bill came due on being penny wise and dollar dumb over the years. A great example is Sling. Dish beat basically everyone to market but Netflix with streaming and was the first platform to offer live TV via stream (which YouTube TV still uses as a selling point). What happened? Dish paid the original engineers to build it and then balked at paying them to document and maintain it. Same deal with the cyber security team. After years of expecting security engineers to do exceptional work shorthanded for middling compensation eventually they had none. It was all put on the security manager, who had a heart attack after repeatedly requesting support. He understandably did not return. Not much later one of the core systems was ransomed, and the company fell out of the fortune 500. Despite being in the middle of dealing with the consequences of those decisions leadership was doing it all again with the mobile network build out.

Hearing that you found value in our middle management and compensation, as well as the chance to learn from the talented individuals on our teams, is encouraging. We appreciate you recognizing those aspects of your time with us. On the other hand, the historical context and concerns you shared regarding executive decision-making, infrastructure maintenance, and resource allocation are deeply concerning. Maintaining a stable, secure, and well-supported environment for our workforce is of the utmost importance, and we take feedback regarding employee well-being and operational decisions seriously. We are continually working to strengthen our operations and better support our teams across all business units. Because this review references a sensitive medical situation alongside organizational challenges, we would welcome the opportunity to hear more about your perspective. Please consider reaching out to our team directly at peopleoperations@dish.com so we can learn more.
