Pros

An acquiring company will pick up some talented Datameer software engineers, and a modest customer base. Solid customer support and training functions.

Cons

A hollowed-out business in reverse. Losing customers. Renewals increasingly challenging. Rapid slow-down in new customer wins in 2016. No longer hiring - always a bad sign. Confused mission. Lacking vision. No real identity. Far-east sales operation shut down in '16. A complete replacement of all the senior management and the entire C-level in 2016 was operationally very disruptive. Many crucial roles have been unfilled for months. Several rounds of layoffs through 2016/17 have put the business in reverse. A skeleton crew remains with several territories and functions no longer covered. With early adopters now decommissioning Hadoop, vendors like Datameer are increasingly niche. The software still has sub-standard data visualization and data integration for enterprise use - both are too immature and lightweight to be useful. The most highly technical, horizontal product sell. No vertical solutions to speak of. Designed for batch data processing with an out-dated architecture based on the elderly Map-Reduce framework. Stuck with outdated marketing messaging - "Big Data" and "Hadoop rule".
