There is a clear tension between the Hong Kong and Mainland China partners, with management appearing to favour Mainland China staff despite concerns around capability and client suitability. In several cases, individuals with limited Cantonese and English proficiency have been reassigned to the Hong Kong office and placed on local client accounts, even where strong relationships had already been established by local partners delivering successful projects. This has created a toxic and unfair working environment, undermined local leadership, disrupted team culture and management, and pushed experienced Hong Kong partners out of key client relationships and decision-making.
