Very hierarchical company - Anonymous employee Essilor Employee Review

Marekting organization is vertical and hierarchical and the CMO and SVP just dictate how things should be done. They do not encourage creativity or critical thinking from their employees. you should simply execute programs. No work life balance. Your manager or the VP will call or text you on weekends or at 5 in the morning because everything is an emergency. Each VP has a protegee that they keep and that they always promote even if their product sales decline or don't meet goal while everybody else has to switch teams every year or two. Nothing shows the company's hierarchical position better than their dress code. Business casual except Fridays. But if you want to donate $1000 to the company's foundation then you get a visible sticker on your badge that allows you to wear jeans and tennis shoes every day if you want to. Even if you care about their foundation very few people can afford this amount except the VPs and executives. Imagine a meeting with VP and executives all wearing jeans except the minions who have to dress up and that is Essilor. People have complained to HR for years about this policy and HR always sides with executives and just say, well you could contribute to the foundation too if you wanted to you know.
