Pros

Great campus with on-site daycare & gym. Free coffee. Good outside of work events. I was lucky to make good friends. However, notice that all my Pros are not related to my work duties.

Cons

There is no HR department. The development leadership was unreceptive to differing points of view. Often, new and faster ways of achieving a goal were suppressed by leads because it wasn't the way that it was done for the last years. Surprisingly, Gallup lacked of training and mentorship making it very hard to onboard anybody leading to lots of turnover. Work/life balance is not OK with a minimum of 45 h/week. Their unlimited vacation policy is actually limited and misleading. Repeated amount of projects with urgent dates leading to many hours of work, a drop in quality, an increase of backlog tickets, and unprofessional emails from management asking for more work and publicly exposing bad habits from their employees.

Pros

1. Genuine intellectual autonomy with real institutional backing behind you 2, A research heritage spanning nearly a century that raises the bar on everything you produce. I've worked with Nobel Laureates and many other top minds. 3. The nicest smart people I've encountered anywhere, drawn from all over the world; and that's held true across nearly 30 years 4. Treated like a responsible adult from day one; lots of autonomy and a remarkable breadth of data and research to work with 5. A place where your individuality is an asset, not something to sand down

Cons

1. If you are a person who needs someone else to structure your day and hand you a to-do list, you may struggle; the autonomy is real, and so are the expectations that come with it 2. The pace and intellectual standards can be demanding; this is not a coast-and-collect-a-paycheck environment

Pros

When I was an undergraduate student in a public administration course in 1985 I was advised that frequent career changes were the new norm in society. That I would more than likely have many jobs over the span of my career. It turns out that this was half-correct. At Gallup I have had many "jobs" in a consistent and rewarding career that has run 30 years so far. This is an organization that is built on intelligence, research-based counsel, independence, talent, strengths and, ultimately, a respect for entrepreneurial thinking. It has a very flat structure, and leadership is available and open to insights and suggestions. Your growth is really only limited by your imagination and commitment to driving your career day in and day out. One of the great opportunities that Gallup provides employees is the possibility to be an owner of the company. You can have skin in the game from an early stage in your career. There are even programs that support you to take on ownership within the 401K and independently. You can really build meaningful wealth through this program. Benefits are very good in general. We have evolved as a company and continue to offer more and more competitive benefits each year.

Cons

It depends how you read this, but, you have to work hard and be open to change, learning, renewing, and evolving to stay relevant. This is not a negative for me, but it is not a place you can come work and expect your annual salary to just grow. It is a place that is constantly changing and you need to be flexible enough to do the same. You get out of the place what you put into the place.
