Pros

Working in a "family" atmosphere is great! Being able to submit a form to request days off in advance is a plus, as management will do everything they can to insure you will make your doctor appointment, family gathering, or even the concert you have tickets for. We all strive to help one another in all areas of the store, and all of us that are able to do so are cross-trained to enable us to be able to fill in if someone is absent. We say "I love you" and mean it. Hugs are given freely.

Cons

Unfortunately, it seems there are favorites, and this leads to some people getting jealous. Did I mention family? You can see where I'm going. Not pretty sometimes. Management has had to handle squabbling up to the point of termination before. The big problem is corporate. They literally have not one single clue as to how each store should function. Not ONE! Every store is different. Every area in which each store is in is unique, as is the type of customer that walks in the door. Corporate is numbers driven in the processing area, GET THOSE NUMBERS! Get those items out on the floor!!! If processing doesn't get quality items, there's a problem...should they process junk? (Uhhhh...no!) (But... OMG! Not gonna make quota!) We don't want poor quality on our shelves, we want to have a good product for our customers to purchase, so we can fund our company. Yet, they at corporate cannot seem to see that people do not consistently donate prime product. The sad fact is that for the most part, people consider Goodwill the county dump. If you only knew what gets donated sometimes... *shudders* Anyway, corporate needs to get a clue and a new game plan. The employee turnover rate is horrendous. It's as if they don't even care...and that saddens me. The "point system" they use is frightening. If you clock in one minute late, one point. If you call out less than one hour before before your shift, one point, plus one point for missing your shift, I think, although it could be a point and a half total. It just goes on and on. If you were to be in a wreck and horribly injured on your way to work, and obviously couldn't come in or call that lovely hour before... POINTS! Then it's 10 (12?...they keep changing the totals) and you're terminated... 4 points if you're in your first 90 days. Can you feel the stress? You'd better come to work sick and tough it out...infect everyone if you're contagious because God forbid, POINTS!!! Corporate... GET A CLUE!!!
