Don't work at Goodwill - Production Associate Goodwill Employee Review

Pros

Most of the people i worked with were nice but that's pretty much all the niceties I have for that company.

Cons

They treat their employees like crap. It would be one thing if Goodwill paid a living wage, but the minimum wage does not cover the amount of work they expect from their staff; not to mention the abusive customers. The $5 gift cards were more of an insult than helpful considering that they are raking it in hand over fist. I actually wanted to do a good job, but their emphasis on quantity made them miss out on the quality items that came through there. They claimed that they were interested in their employees suggestions, butt after 9 months they still hadn't given me the proper forms to fill out. At one point, the back of the store (where I worked) flooded a couple of inches and yet i was expected to keep moving heavy electrical equipment through the water. They have no standards regarding their donation policy. I'm all for fixing things up, but 90% of the donations are broken beyond repair and covered in multiple bodily fluids. I could keep going, but I think you got the picture

Pros

I get paid consistently. I don't have to stress about restraining people or raising my voice. My clients are friendly.

Cons

The pay is that good. I have to travel to NYC every day.

Pros

Great impact on the community

Cons

Terrible salary and hourly pay rates. They claim they care about the community, but don't do anything for their own people to make sure they're taken care of and paid fairly.
