Bureaucratic and top-down, but fair overall. - Sales Associate Goodwill Employee Review

Pros

GWSV will hire anyone (except for pedophiles), so almost anyone can get on here. They do test for drugs, though, and you cannot use even medical marijuana. The company is very well-run and organized, and as an employee you get 20% off all merchandise, even donated cars & trucks.

Cons

Since they do hire almost anyone, they are very strict and rule-bound. A very good lead was fired after he requested an additional two weeks off for an injured foot, even though it was a doctor's recommendation... he was told that he "could not be accommodated". Also, since they recently experienced a bout with insolvency (near bankruptcy) they run the stores very lean and mean i.e. short-staffed and short-tempered, with a real focus on numbers. Furthermore, your first two weeks training with them are virtually unpaid.
