Pros
Will hire almost anyone, for better or worse. Offer generally available benefits. Training not required. Insight into company's actual workings and foot-in-the-door to retail. Easy to work a schedule and draw a paycheck without concern for advancement, longevity, or particular care for the work. Non-profit staus may encourage one to believe they are actually doing good.
Cons
Peter Principle in action. Work scheduling a mess. "Customer service" used as excuse for breaking their own policies to the detriment of employee morale and safety. Poor management goes unchecked. Revolving door of employees, due to hiring failures, disappointing working conditions, and indiscriminate firing of people. Poor pay. WASTE. Riding on the laurels of a non-profit status and history of a name. Sales promotions almost nil. Employees treated as invaluable and expendable. Could be a decent workplace if employees were much better trained and treated with value.
