Pros

They pay for your license.

Cons

This company is a real sweatshop - the hours are long and the pay is not commensurate of the time you put in. Also you don't get equity in building your own book of business, which is where the money actually is in insurance. This is an agency that acts like a direct channel carrier (Allstate, Statefarm, etc.) with none of the benefits of being at an insurance brokerage. STAY FAR AWAY.

We are sorry to hear your experience was out of the norm. Our corporate account executive team has 2 clear career paths to equity - through corporate leadership and our franchise launch program. For those who apply for the launch program, you create a path to equity through book ownership. We also have an option for those desiring a high income/truly autonomous role within our account executive team - without pursuing additional management responsibilities. We go over these options in depth during our recruiting process and are happy to share resources and real-life examples of successful team members in all paths! We are sincerely sorry that this was not your experience and are eager to provide clarity for all candidates moving forward.

Pros

Broad Product Access: Agents leverage an expansive portfolio of top insurance carriers rather than being forced to sell a single brand. Passive Income Potential: Sales reps earn uncapped commissions on new business alongside recurring residual income from policy renewals. Strong Peer Culture: The workforce is described as highly motivated, energetic, and welcoming, offering a great environment for young professionals. Dedicated Service Support: Separate service and back-office teams handle ongoing client management, allowing sales agents to focus strictly on closing new business. Professional Development: The firm covers the cost of licensing exams and provides structured Salesforce and business development training. Standard Corporate Perks: Full-time corporate staff receive a complete Goosehead Insurance Employee Benefits Package, including a 401(k) match and an employee stock purchase plan.

Cons

No cons to mention here. - this is a job, you can make it great if you care about what you do and the relationships you are building.

Pros

Great people to work with. Coworkers turned true friends. The role is very dynamic. You will never be bored.

Cons

I could say many things but I’ll summarize with these points: Job stability feels very low and very high at the same time. You perform well (which is very difficult in a Texas market without selling a bit of your soul at least) you can do whatever. I mean whatever. Yet, in a given year your role, your pay, your manager, your office location, and your daily expectations will probably change. Hope you can keep up! If you can’t, better tell all the family that are now Goosehead clients because you had to pass training somehow. You could be successful in this role. I’d say 9/10 people aren’t but you could be the 10%. For the rest of us, it’s a stepping stone job that pays the bills. You’ll survive your year contract so you don’t pay 10k back to this company. Somehow you will. At what cost? Stay tuned.
