Pros

Great benefits. 21 days PTO. Uncapped bonus.

Cons

First and foremost, this company is incredibly out of touch and lacks any sort of progressive mindset. Managers regularly are robotic and show no feeling or empathy towards things in your personal life. Grainger doesn't acknowledge Pride month, externally or internally. We also don't truly acknowledge MLK day - it is a full working day. If you get COVID, be prepared to burn PTO even though there is plenty of work that can be done at home as they do not have a policy in place to allow for extra days if you contract COVID. Even if you get it from a customer. Next - sales team specifics. The expectations of sales members are insane. The amount of metrics you are expected to hit across the board on both Salesforce and with your sales goals are exhausting. Burnout is prevalent across my entire team and among others on different teams throughout the sales org. So much luck plays into this job that is incredibly frustrating. You can take 10 steps forward with a few accounts, then 30 steps back after a national contract is lost (which is completely out of your hands). Evaluation needs to be done on how to make this more realistic for everyone across the board. Decisions being made seem to be largely made by boomers who are completely out of touch with the younger world. Opportunities for internal growth are rare.

Pros

Having worked for several other companies throughout my career, I can honestly say that Grainger provides the best employee training and development I've experienced. The amount of time, effort, and resources they invest in helping employees succeed exceeds every other company I've worked for combined. Grainger is committed to making sure everyone has the same opportunities to learn, grow, and advance. The company provides the tools, training, and support needed to build a successful career. The opportunities are there for everyone—you just need to ask questions, take initiative, and seek them out. Managers and teammates are supportive, and the overall culture encourages continuous learning and personal growth. In addition to the excellent training, Grainger offers a positive work environment, strong benefits, and a culture built on teamwork, safety, and customer service.

Cons

As with any large organization, some processes can take time due to multiple levels of approval. Workloads can also be demanding during busy periods, but the support from coworkers and leadership helps make those times manageable.
