Squeezing every dime from employee-owner moral. - Project Manager HDR Employee Review

Pros

- The office I worked in had a good collaborative culture. But that's one office out of over 220 and I won't say one office's culture is transferrable to them all. - HDR is an employee- owned company. Pre-Trump admin tax cuts, the stock price averaged around a healthy 15% each year since the mid-90s. Post-Trump admin tax cuts the stock price has been outstanding, averaging around 25% per year.

Cons

- Senior Management at the corporate and regional levels have increasingly inserted themselves beginning in 2019 and 2020 into matters once controlled by the leadership (Area Managers) at the local office level which is removing the local offices' authority, decision-making capabilities and ultimately is weakening their ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and recruit and maintain a talented professional staff. Where matters were once decentralized now, they are less so and focused on internal controls to increase stock price, which has historically been strong (mid-teens since the mid-90s) to begin with. It's kinda like in Money Ball where David Justice asks the assistant GM why players need to pay for a buck for soda in the club house and is told Billy Bean "likes to keep the money on the field" and Justice replies back, "Soda money?" - On the work/life balance front, HDR will gladly take every hour you give it. - Push a policy in 2021 that ended paying employees for their billable hours worked above 40 hours/week in a sheer corporate money grab.

Pros

Culture, schedule flexibility, depending on management, remote work, and employee owned, okay benefits

Cons

Parking sucks. The office is in downtown so you have pay just about any where you park. Work is repetitive or stagnant sometimes.

Fantastic teamwork. The Coastal Group is very close and highly collaborative. There is a lot of support from upper management in the Coastal Group. Lots of projects lined up.

PTO and Sick Leave are tied together.
