Pros

It has been very rewarding to be a part of this company. Our position in the market is set. Our products and services are amongst the best in the industry and given the overwhelming need and push for deep and meaningful analytics throughout healthcare, Health Catalyst has uniquely and effectively matured to meet and exceed an organizations analytical needs. The incredible success of each and every Health Catalyst client not only demonstrates, but acts as a testament that our unique philosophies, methodologies and approach to analytics and care improvement works. We are indeed Transforming Healthcare on client at time...

Cons

There is never a lack of things to do or work on - but that's really more of another "Pros"...

I completely agree with your first comment. I have been involved with Health Catalyst for over four years at this point, and in my 20+ year career I haven't worked for a more rewarding company in a more rewarding industry. What we are trying to accomplish deeply matters in the lives of our constituents, because at the end of the day, what we are talking about is improving quality of life for many, many people through better healthcare. Some of these people that we are helping I know and love personally, which makes this a deeply personal mission. It is that mission-driven aspect that gets me up every morning, and drives me to make the rest of your glowing comments more true every day. Make no mistake, its hard! What we are trying to do here is hard, and we as a collective team can only do so much, and we make mistakes, like all people do. What I like is that we are cultivating a culture here at Catalyst that can look past our mistakes and learn from them, and hopefully improve tomorrow over today. For anyone considering a potential move to Health Catalyst, know that we have problems, growing pains, market challenges, etc. like anyone (and everyone) else. But as the team member here points out, it is very rewarding to be a part of this company. Thanks for all you do every day!

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I appreciate the thoughtful recognition of our collaborative culture and the meaningful work the team does together. How we work together matters just as much as what we do. Our operating principles and cultural attributes remain foundational. To address your concerns about processes and roles, as the organization evolves, we’re prioritizing clarity in these areas to better support teams. There’s real momentum building right now, and the work ahead is meaningful. I’m grateful for you and the role you play here, and I’m excited about what we’re building together.

Pros

Great Talent & Culture: The people here are highly capable, collaborative, and committed to helping each other succeed. The partnership between onshore and offshore teams works well and is a real strength. There’s a culture of grit and stability that has helped the company navigate multiple major transitions over the years. Mission-Critical Engineering: The work involves complex data infrastructure that requires deep technical expertise. It can be demanding, but seeing these systems run successfully and support real-world operations is consistently rewarding.

Cons

Wage Compression and Retention Risk: Compensation for tenured and high-performing staff has not kept pace with the market for specialized data engineering and support leadership. In practice, tenure can feel undervalued or even penalized. This creates risk around losing institutional knowledge and operational continuity. Stagnant Career Progression: Contrary to stated expectations, strong performance ratings do not consistently translate into meaningful, market-aligned compensation growth. The process of how compensation is benchmarked lacks clarity in practice, obscuring how compensation decisions are made and what is required to advance.
