Pros

A lot of responsibility and big budgets

Cons

Horrible management, poor planning, do more with less people mentality. Disgusting work culture. So much pressure. Literally every other day one of us get a sick leave for burnouts. I had a horrible team lead and there was nothing I can do about my horrible inexperienced team lead. The company claims that their culture is egoless. You can speak up and challenge status quo. Everybody’s opinions matter etc… Reality is that the upper management only listens their sr managers or team leads. If you are not one of them you don’t matter . They take decisions without discussing with teams and then force people into changes. They don’t care if you leave or if you are unhappy. They are in the opinion that its easy to replace people and everyone wants to work for hellofresh. Ask about the turn over rate in paid marketing in your interview ( sea, seo, display, paid social, youtube, affiliate, offline marketing ) its not even 1.5 years. I have serious doubts about ability and experience of the team leads in paid marketing teams. And I don’t think its only me who questions that. I think people simply leave because they don’t want to work with team leads who earns more than themselves but doesn’t seem to be contributing more than anyone else or doesn’t even convince their team members that they are worthy of the positions they hold. You might be thinking 🤔 well how do they get team lead positions then??? Well its all about politics. Are you good at politics? Then this team is definitely for you! I’m sure you will get a team lead title in no time!! After you get it do not try to make your team happy. Always try to make upper management happy. That’s all that matters. Basically don’t work much upper management will bite whatever you say and your direct reports have no place to make their voices heard anyway.

Pros

Flexible hybrid environment. In-office requirement is 50% of the month, but there is significant autonomy in how those days are scheduled (eg. you can decide to condense your in-office days the first 2 weeks of the month, and work remotely for the next 2 weeks).

Cons

1- Compensation (particularly base salary) is significantly below market. Reliance on RSU as a major component of the compensation package is problematic, given the company’s stock has severely plummeted over the last 5 years (and continues to do so). 2- Professional development is virtually non-existent. Internal promotions are rare (even for top performers) and highly political. 3- Constant reorganizations and frequent layoffs. It is difficult to feel secure in your position when entire teams are being phased out every few months. 4- Toxic and fear-driven culture. There is a prevalent culture of backchannel feedback and a palpable, constant sense of fear regarding job security and retaliation. 5- Unsustainable business model, still. Service is overly reliant on discounting and promotions, which has negatively impacted brand perception and long-term customer value. Path to sustainable growth is unclear. Leadership also doesn't seem to know what to do, as they frequently pivot strategy, with new directions introduced every few months (if not every few weeks). This lack of consistency creates a sense of instability and leaves teams feeling as though the company lacks a cohesive, long-term vision. 6- Leadership tone. Leaders often lack respect for both employees and the customer base (it is common for them to make derogatory and insulting comments in business meetings about customers who cancel their service).
