Pros

Patients and clinical mission are meaningful Many frontline coworkers are hardworking and supportive High patient volume means you learn quickly Some units have strong peer-to-peer teamwork

Cons

I wanted this role to work because the mission matters, but the employee experience did not match the reputation. Retirement benefits are not competitive compared with other large healthcare systems, and I found HR responses to serious concerns to be inconsistent and often dismissive. When issues were raised, the approach felt more like minimizing risk than fixing root causes. There has also been significant staffing reduction in my area, described internally as “redeployment,” which created instability and increased workload for remaining clinicians. Morale has dropped, communication has been unclear, and the burden is pushed down to frontline teams. I also experienced and witnessed leadership communication that felt disrespectful and, at times, biased. Those concerns did not appear to be addressed in a meaningful way. No pension and overall retirement benefits are not competitive HR response to complaints felt like deflection or silence rather than resolution Significant staffing cuts created heavier workloads and burnout Communication from leadership can feel dismissive and punitive Culture does not consistently support psychological safety, speaking up feels risky “Redeployment” language felt like rebranding layoffs rather than transparency

Pros

Great organization to grow professionally in healthcare operations. Strong focus on patient care, quality, innovation, and leadership development. I’ve gained valuable experience in physician support, operations, workflow improvement, and cross-functional collaboration while working with talented teams and leaders.

Cons

Fast-paced environment with high expectations and increasing responsibilities. At times, leadership roles can feel under-titled compared to the level of operational work being performed. Work-life balance can also be challenging during staffing shortages, major initiatives, or clinic transitions.
