Pros

Good reputation = interesting clients/project work Good benefits, salary, and the perks that come with working for a large firm

Cons

Employee experiences are very group dependent — I had some friends who adored working for ICF, just not in my group. Generally, I’d stay away from the private side of the firm. In my group I witnessed blatant sexism and racism, and was consistently belittled. I worked long nights and weekends only to be ignored by VPs and left out of BD because of my gender. These were widely known experiences, with little effort to create change. I had a superb direct supervisor who saved the entire experience, but I was one of 12+ people to leave my group in under a year. ICF offers enormous potential, but I would ask about turnover in the specific group you’re applying to, which should give you a sense of employee satisfaction.

We’re very concerned about your experience at ICF and would like to talk with you about it. We work hard to ensure that people are treated fairly and with respect. If there is a situation where that isn’t the case, it’s an exception to our principles and our practices, and we want to address it. Would you be willing to email me at contactus@icf.com to share about your concerns? We can ensure confidentiality and no retaliation by keeping your personal information private.
